I’ve been depressed for a week & still in disbelief

Recently I went for a check up and to get tested for STD. I tested positive for hsv2. Ive only had a cold sore maybe 3xs in 10 yrs just under my lip. I don't have or have not ever had any blister in my genital area. Is it possible all this time I thought I just had a cold sore and had hsv2 ? My Doctor only test me for HSV2 & not HSV1 is it possible the test can be wrong? I've been retested to make sure. Are there any chance something can trigger a false test? BTW it was a hsv igg test done.

    If you have hsv1 its pretty easy to get a false hsv2, usually once you already have one strand. Its rare to acquire both.
