I've been depressed for about 2 months now.Help me

After passing my 12th std I dropped 1 year for cracking medical entrance exam but failed then I got myself enrolled in bsc , in which I got a backlog in 1 st year and now college authorities are not allowing admission in 3rd year(final year) bsc. My whole family is angry with me ,I am turning 21 next month and I don't have any skills,degree or job.I feel lost.

I am not even able to sleep , and it feels like ending my life is the only option left for me.I am the black sheep of my family, I feel lonely , hopeless n of zero worth for me and the people around me.

Help me please.

     I've been depressed for many years. It is hard. But there are resources. Do research. There are also suicidal hotline's of things become serious enough.  Be persistent on getting the help you need.  That is my advice.

    I will tell you that

    all of the problems with school HAVE a solution and WILL resolve.

    These issues are totally manageable, just do not let it take you over.

    You need to tell someone right away the dire emotional predicament you feel you are in. Someone needs to hear you and you need support as soon as possible.

    It may seem like its too much to bear but this is a verrrry remediable situation. Your 21.

    You got your whole life, just do not let this take you down.

    Hi Alan - the first thing to do is to see your doctor. If there are symptoms of depression, medications may be prescribed. They will take 3-8 weeks to work - you should feel a bit better after a couple of weeks. Meds are best used in conjunction with therapy i.e. a counsellor or psychologist. Once you are feeling better you can tackle how to resolve the education question. The priority now is to address your psychological state and the notion of suicide - which is an element of the depressive disorder. There is a way out and suicide is not it. You are not hopeless. You are in a trough and that is part of life. There isn't a soul alive that doesn't face challenges. This is one of yours. Make that appointment today and all the best going forward.     Hi Alankrita,

    You need to think about your positives immediately and raise your self esteem. You are not leading this life for others, this is your life and do things for yourself. Whenever you are struggling with a subject, please do understand that you might be in the wrong field. Study how much ever you can and parallel start thinking what do you want to do in life which will make you happy. Chase that and you will feel the change within you and wipe around.Life is pretty long and you have just started the journey, don't get panic, everything will settle down within some time

    No doubt, your life has been a struggle but you must have also heard of the saying that difficult road lead to beautiful destinations. So do not lose hope. Do things you love and are passionate about because it is you who is important, your happiness is important. Keep working on yourself and your goals you will be successful. As far as your sleep disturbances and suicidal thoughts are concerned, yes you need to overcome them. Approach a counsellor and vent it out to them, they will definitely help you in some or the other way.
