I've been doodling in Oil paint again.. something to do when in the down time...

....been so dam sore lately and it came to a head the other night and is only just starting to abate...  absolutely knackered with it..  but when I can pinch an 'ok lull moment/s', I push myself to sometimes paint.  We have an Art Expo on at our local Art Society room, soon.  So I'm trying to get something done for it before I get back into my Big Commissioned one of Mount Taranaki/(Mt Egmont to some folk...)

I have dabbled with this little 10" x 10" whilst house sitting for two weeks for a friend whilst she was in Tasmania..

I thought I'd be totally different and paint it using my 'Pinky Finger'..hahaha  It's a little out there type of scene..

Sorry the Pixel rating on the wee iPod isn't very good..

Anyone else been doing any craft or art lately???

I do appreciate any constructive criticism .. only way I can learn my mistakes... :-)

Oh lovely lovely... your talent for colour and designing, colour matching would be such a delight... I'd love that opportunity!  Sadly I cannot.

Good on you!!   Isn't it lovely to give a place a face lift, changing colour schemes etc.. Oh what fun and joy!

I do love house painting to, sadly it kills me after a little while... My grandmother got me to paint out her whole bathroom when I was 9 yrs old.. using of course the old enamel High gloss paint. I so enjoyed that challange.  It was a good sized bathroom to!  One of those happy memories...  I always loved physical challenges or those that had something to show for your efforts..

Good work kaz.. and many thanks for your compliment thank you very kind..

Maybe a photo of your most favourite room when it's all finished!!  :-)

Don't let the ole' shaky hand syndrome stop you diagnosisisalie..  There is that renowned Artist who developed an issue in his neck which affected his hand with tremours..  Shaky hand.  He felt he had to give up his art due to the uncontrollable shaky hand holding the brush.

His Specialist said not to stop, but to actually use his shakiness to his advantage in his artwork...And so the chap thought about and 'boy oh boy' he turns out such amazing art work!  Basically better than ever before...  simply by going with the flow, and using his disablity to his advantage...  Never say never aye!!  Wish I could remember his name..grrr

I am in awe of you artistic skills Deb. I am artistically challenged but I love birds and from time to time I try to draw them with limited success. It is a very relaxing thing to do and seems to take one's mind off the dreaded curse we are beset with, therapy Maybe?

Good luck with your paintings please post online when you finish so we can be inspired. Megx

Blushing now Meg... lol..  thank you, very kind.  I'm by far NOT an accomplished artist, I just dabble...  It does come from within and it takes time to develope your own style or version of what you see in your minds eye... OR for some folk I know who trace pictures and then paint them..  I haven't ever done that yet.  I feel, that for me to trace and paint is not teaching myself 'anything'..   However it can I know be a good tool for those who cannot use their eye technically straight off.  That is where the doodle pads and adult colouring in books are fabulous!  They also help to stimulate a persons natural creative flare...and voila!  folk begin to do 'their own thing'...

EVERY one can draw or paint etc... it's just a simple matter of developing your own style in what ever medium you like... It's amazing what you can achieve...  We are our own worst critics...  :-)

Yes it is very good therapy, it helps me to calm myself when in that medium pain zone, and prior to zzzZ fatigue..zzzZZZZ

A very fine line now between just coping in pain to being in a total nasty flare up...  I have no reprieve time really

Will post up the finished canvas, just a little bit to do on the water..  :-)

ps:  Would Love to see a bird or some birds you have drawn Meg, I'm really sure they'd be cool!!   We all see things differently, so don't be embarrassed..  What you think is challenged, may not be at all in the eye's of anyone else, AND also there is always the opportunity to learn from 'Contructive Criticism' from others...it's a god way to learn to develope 'what you see, and the coordination from mind to hand to paper'...   :-)  Just like Art schools.. lol...but no teacher over your shoulders...hahaha

Hi Deb; I'm afraid that I'm more like Meg.......I have absolutely no talent in drawing/painting  (after 58 years am still only drawing stick figures)....and as to your painting, it really is lovely.....as the others say, the different shades of blue are just beautiful and if it was hung on a bedroom/lounge room wall, it is a very relaxing blue/s........this is where you are going to make your fortune....start selling them, as they really are good and worth buying..........if you were to tell me how much you would sell it for, I personally would consider buying it.....do you live near a "Sunday market"....this is where we Aussies notice artists selling....?  give it a try....Bron

No I don't live in Aussie, I'm in the South Island of NZ...   I am really very flattered Bron that you'd consider buying it...  I am trying to put one or two paintings in our Art Society Show.  The Public can purchase them from there, however yes some are not for sale just for show.

I did do a big painting for a friend of mine.. just out of the blue I gave this 20" x 40" canvas a go..  and they really truly loved it so much that I now have a commission painting to do for them of a hill range on a farm.

I may have posted a photo of it before, (I can't remember)...  I'l put up a photo of it, but it's not a very good one as the lighting has made it very light, so you have to tilt your screen and possibly enlarge the pic to see the detail.

The fact that someone even wanted to pay for one of my paintings, for me was 'mind boggling' and I honestly felt kind of funny about it...  lol...  But in reality for me to continue to paint I have to be able to afford to buy good quality paint and canvas.  On my very limited funds it is very hard to actually do this.  So one painting, my very first sale afforded me to buy some more canvas's and paint...  'phew'...

I have only done about 12 paintings and one pastel picture..  I gave my initial ones away as they were on cheap canvas's and cheap paint..  After of course selling one I afforded top paint and canvas's...

I have also been asked to complete a large canvas for $1,000.  I nearly fell out of my shoes!!  How could I turn that down!!  Goodness me!  So after the Art Society show I'm head down bum up on my good days to complete it.

I am hugely sorry to if I am repeating myself, I forget if I have told my story/s before....

Meg 'everyone can draw or paint'  it's developing one's style I believe..  Art is very subjective...

Will drop a message re painting...

      .
