I’ve been experiencing weird vertigo episodes

Hi, I’m a 16 year old female. I have been having this ringing in my ears for 3 years however I’ve learned to ignore it and I didnt ever bother telling anyone about it. About 6 days ago, I was sitting in class and I had just eaten lunch, I started to feel as if the room was spinning so I went to go walk around and I realized that it felt as if I was taking one huge step or like I was sinking and my balance felt off. I went to the docs and they did a neurology exam for me which I passed. They tested me for anemia and diabetes and any other things that can show in my blood  and that all came out negative. The docs told me to go home and rest because I also had a fever of 100°F and my blood pressure kept getting high and low but they assume it’s my anxiety because when they laid me down, they saw that my blood pressure went down. I went around the internet and searched some of my symptoms up which all linked to vertigo which my doctor hasn’t yet diagnosed me with. I am assuming it’s vertigo but I’m also concerned it could be something horrible. I’ve been depressed ever since these episodes, I don’t like to eat anymore and I’ve become lazy in school, this is all starting to depress me.

Worst thing you can do is self diagnose. I do it all the time and it is so bad, honestly you can convince yourself you have something awful and it’s actually only something minor. I have had tinnitus for nearly three months now along with a spaced out feeling when walking but when resting I’m fine. I recently started anti depressants for anxiety and my anxiety has been a lot better but I still have this ringing. I had my ears siringed at the docs because they told me I had a wax build up. The nurse was useless and actually made my ear worse due to syringing when I had an infection. They gave me antibiotic drops but they have become painful to put in my ears. I also washed my hair last night and accidentally got some water in my ears this became very painful. I can still hear the ringing and still feel dizzy. I just want this all to go away. I need to go back to work and can’t feeling like this. This is my 4th doctors visit. Hoping they will fix me

Sorry to hear! That must be a tough situation. Hopefully things are settled! Have you seen an ear specialist?

    Hi jay29903,

I think that if you do not feel better soon you should go and have an assessment done with your audiologist.  I think you will find thereafter that your Dr will decide what should be done.  Then again if it goes away thats great.  I dont think you should leave it.

    Regards

Thank You so much! I just saw one and everything came out normal so they will rule things out with an MRI. Every now and then I still get odd vertigo attacks.

Hello Jay,  Sorry to read your post.  Vertigo is really horrible and frightening too.  Try to to become anxious

as it will make it worse.

Have they ruled out Meniers disease (I think I've spelt that incorrectly) that cuaes awful vertigo.  He could have

prescribed a tablet that's available to help with the dizziness.

I take it that you haven't got Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD) where your ear/ears are blocked.  If you

have this will cause Tinnitus....I've suffered this for over 30 years !!

High blood pressure, or even low can also cause a dizzy feeling.  Everyone always thinks the worse after

suffering an attack of vertigo, but rest assured it's usually nothing to worry about.  stress and aniety to

bring it on too.   I remember years ago I suffered a really nasty bout of vertigo and so bad I fell over.  Ears

play such a big part in our balance mechanism.  I suffer Sinusitis and Allergies that can cause ETD wish

then causes Tinnitus and blocked ears.

    Try not to worry

    Kind regards

    Anne

I just got to see an ENT and nope, they say everything looks normal, hearing and they even did a vertigo test for me and said they will rule anything else out with an MRI.
