I've been exposed to herpies simplex 2

I do get an occasional cold sore...so I know I have simplex 1. Two weeks ago I may have been exposed to someone with simplex2. I have made an appointment to be tested in two days. My first exposure to this person was about 16 weeks ago. And I'm aware i need to be tested again at the next 16 week mark. I have no symptoms...no sores...no tingle...no nothing. And never had. And nor have my sexual partners. I'm looking for, hoping for a little piece of mind. Does anyone know if it's likely I would be symptomatic for simplex1 but not simplex2?

You probably haven't gotten it because the person probably didn't have an outbreak at the time, but it's good that you are getting tested 😊

Honey I was a carrier of it for years and had no idea- I just found out.  Just had my first outbreak almost 4 weeks ago.  You can still give it even if there are no symptoms or signs.

Herpes can be easily diagnosed when blisters are present. When you are asymptomatic and take a blood test, the test looks for antibodies that fight the virus. While these tests are fairly accurate, tests can have false positive results. Newer PCR DNA tests are more reliable than older tests and look for actual viral presence and not just antibodies. However, even in the newer tests, false positives can occur around 5 percent of the time. It is not necessary that HSV type 1 is only oral and HSV type 2 is only genital. Both can occur at either location.
