I've been having a problem in my right shoulder/neck/back for almost a YEAR. Please help!

Hi! I am a 24 year old male who, previous to this condition/injury, was a professional dancer.

For almost a year now I have had a pain in my right shoulder. It used to come and go and would get typically worse whilst using it (gym, dancing etc)

Recently I have had to stop dancing and all forms of exercise as the pain just gets really uncomfortable.

Weirdly, I also have a lot of trouble doing day to day tasks like ironing as it really makes the pain flare up.

I feel pain from the top of the right side of my neck, sometimes above my ear, which travels down the rise side of my neck, along the edge of my shoulder blade and down my back. Often the pain area expands elsewhere.

I have seen a Chiropractor, Osteopath, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Acupuncturist/Electro Acupuncturist, Rheumatologist. I have had X-Rays and MRI scans and I am still none the wiser.

Honestly, It's really getting me down. I can hardly do anything at the moment and I'm used to being so active.

I would really appreciate ANY help from anyone who has had this or has an idea what might be going on.

Thank you!

James

    Hello James;

    It sounds like your rotator cuff. What did the doctors say about the MRI?? I had severe pain in my right shoulder down my arm on my right side, and the pain got really bad, and took a xray which showed tendinitis and bursitis, so Dr wanted me to go through therapy. As time went on, the pain only got worse, and I ended up going to the ER. The doctor thought it was my rotator cuff, and told me to have my doctor order a MRI. My doctor did, and once I did, the results showed I had a small tear. Of course after going to therapy for awhile, my pain didn't get better, and neither did my range of motion. My therapist informed me to go back to my Dr. and ask him to go over my MRI again, because he thought something wasn't right. After my orthopedic Dr. examined me, he noticed how much pain I was still in, so he said I needed surgery! On Aug. 18th of last year I had surgery, and Dr realized that I had a lot going on!! My rotator cuff was torn, had to have the socket repaired, and cut the biceps all on right side! Surgery went well, and therapy was going ok too, until the end of October when I started having neck pain on my right side too! The pain only got worse as time went by. Spine Dr. and my surgeon thought the pain is due to my shoulder! Ever since December, I've been waiting for a MRI to get approved from my medical insurance, and so far it was denied 2x!! The shoulder incident all was due to an assault from one- a few students, so that's under WC. I just had another MRI on my right shoulder today, but still waiting on word regarding approval for the MRI of my neck; the one I desperately need!!! I've been in constant pain, and nothing really helps, and this has caused me so much stress and frustration!! Talk to your Orthopedic Dr. again, and ask them what's going on!! I wouldn't wish this kind of pain or the pain you're going through on NO ONE!! I pray you get some answers and RELIEF REAL SOON!!!
