I've been ill for 2 weeks

i went off the MTX and prednisone but in 10 days it will be time for my Orencia infusion.  I had severe bronchitis, much better and improved, but I am still coughing.  If I am still coughing, no fever for days now, do u think they will let me do my infusion,  what is the thought on this.  This is the first time I have been ill since being told I have RA--4 years now, and my biologic is working.

I doubt it very much.   Your immune system is compromised already, giving you another immune suppressing drug wouldn't be the best of ideas.

Hi Jo, I suspect not. I've had an underlying chest infection treated with 4 lots of antibiotics. My Benepali was stopped (as was my methotrexate for fibrosis) until they are satisfied I'm infection free i.e. have a negative sputum. Even when I felt better they still managed to grow something. They also want me to be infection free x 4 weeks to let my immune system recover a little. I've been taking prednisolone in the meantime for some relief which also compromises your immune system. This is probably not what you want to hear - I didn't. Sorry.

Carol, thanks for the information.  At the present time I just have a off and on cough , worse at night, but it is getting better.Dr. says if it's not gone in a week he wants to see me, suprised, usually he doesnt care. If I do quit coughing in a couple of days I will have my meds.At this point my nose runs and I cough, post nasal drip, I have been without fever for over a week.  I wish I could have my sputum tested. They just stick ur finger and then say, no bacteria.
