Hi guys.

I posted on this website after being ill for 9 weeks last year, which then in January came back as Glandular Fever and liver enzymes being slightly higher.  8 months later from when I first started feeling unwell, I still don't feel well. I have been suffering from constant headaches, a bleeding sensation in my head (I keep having to check to see if it is actually bleeding or not), unable to read/eye pains when I'm on a ''bad bad day'', I'm pretty much feeling dizzy constantly, for example Weds just gone I was walking in to college and I thought I was falling but I wasn't, and today I was sat in a meeting and I felt like I was just falling off my chair. I last went to the doctors towards the end of May and he prescribed me Amytriptiline (?) and a blood test, he wanted to see me two weeks after but I was in Malta volunteering when he wanted to see me, so I have an appointment this next Weds to discuss.

The tablets haven't been working but also whilst I was in Malta I ended up getting admitted to hospital via ambulance overnight, I had some sort of weird dizzy/panic spell. I had been feeling dizzy all morning but I also didn't have the energy to do what I was doing so I went and sat down and I began to go even more dizzy, have chest pains, I actually could not walk my legs just went from below me, and the people who were there said I was hyperventilating,  shaking non stop, freezing, lost sensation in my hands (one of them started squeezing my hands and I couldn't feel anything)  pale as a white sheet and sweating  (I have no recolition of this), and whilst in their hospital I got referred to the ENT department who checked my ears, couldn't find anything but then they also prescribed me Stemetil to try help my diziness to no avail. Since I got back I've been getting a stabbing pain down my left hand side below my ribs and also getting pains behind my eyes.

Does anybody know anything what it could actually be?

I was in tears at work the other day (I'm a waitress) as my head wouldn't stop hurting and everything was too loud and bright for me.

Of course I am not a doctor, but the only thing that comes to mind is migraine variant combined with panic attacks. The amitriptyline is a migraine preventative, but it may not be working for you, or the dose is too low. Depending on how long you've been on it, all the migraine preventatives can take weeks to work. The attack in Malta sounds like a major panic attack. What was their diagnosis?

If they think it was a panic attack, you may need meds to manage that, as well as a migraine preventative that works for you

I will say that it was after I had glandular fever in my late teens that I first developed migraine with aura as well as horrible allergies to both pollen and numerous foods. Eventually most of the food allergies went away, but it took a few years. I am told that this virus is a big trigger for onset of allergies, migraine, etc. The susceptibility is there; and the virus brings it forth.

Anyway, the benzodiazapines have been a big help for my dizziness and anxiety. Many drs won't give them because of their potential for addiction. I take klonopin and it helps me function. I also take a migraine preventative called propranolol. My neuro may be switching me soon to verapamil, which is supposed to be better for dizzy migraine vs headache migraine. I hope u feel better soon!

He said he prescribed them as it does something to the levels in my head or something. I've been on them for a month now.

Nothing. I don't know what they tested me for but my bloods came back normal and my ECG's were fine. I had a mini panic attack a few days before I ended up in hospital (my second ever one, my first one in about 4/5 years) but also then had a smaller panic attack whilst I was in hospital in a&e, I have no idea how they even came about.

      Thank you very much!
