After several years on amitriptyline I developed what drs thought was early onset dementia. while waiting for a neurologist appointment my regular dr said to wean off all meds. Amitriptyline was the last one & within 2 weeks of stopping it my brain recovered & I was allowed to go back on my other meds.
So... amitriptyline can be great or it can be really bad. If any Rx made me start stuttering I'd stop it asap. There are other meds your dr can give you.
