I've been on pregabalin for ten Years for phantom pain caused by a lower leg amputation.

I read the leaflet my pharmacist gave me but it's for pregabalin accord? Are these the same. I can only find it's used for epilepsy and gad?

    ​Epilepsy was the original use but over time it became apparent that Pregabalin (and generics thereof) worked on chronic nerve pain and hence it is prescribed now for such. GAD is an enigma to me as patients report it seems to work for about 6 weeks and then Anxiety comes back with a vengeance forcing the patient to up the dosage until reaching the maximum of 600mg daily. Doctors in my opinion are now prescribing Pregabalin for anything and everything as if it is a wonder drug. It is not and the side effects and withdrawals are awful for some. It changes the brain chemistry within one week and also the central nervous system. I suffered memory loss, loss of language, balance issues and many more. However, if you have been on this drug for 10 years without ill effects and it works for your phantom pain there is no reason for you to worry about the generic names of Pregabalin unless you find them ineffective. If ever you wish to come off this drug please do not go cold turkey as this can cause seizures (read the Leaflet). There is a safer way of dropping the dosage down little by little thereby reducing withdrawal symptoms. Post again if you need further information. I wish you well.

      Sorry thats untrue pzier created lyrica firstly as upgrade from neurontin gabapentin for neuropathic pain then lyrica became more powerful and better for neuropathic pain then they realised it enhances gaba activity similar to diazepam

    Pregabalin has 2 pattern lyrica only aloud to put neuropathic pain on leaflets as they made the drug and wont sell pattern 1 all others are specifically for epilepsy and GAD a molecule has been removed that

    reduces pain all other brands are only fda approved for pattern 2. Lyrica are expensive but no other brands work the same ive been on 6 other brands and each one has worsened my GAD but my doctor had me on lyrica for 4 years then decided to allow the pharmacy to use cheap brands well p****d off as I've researched these over and over

      Most medication has a second moleculer pattern sandoz put pain on leaflet for Pregabalin and got sued by lyrica for infringement of there pattern to class as same bioequivellent only has to be within 80%of all aspects even strength so 100mg only has to be 80mg to gain fda approval
