I've been on Prozac for 22 days, will the side effects go away?

I started Prozac 22 days ago. The first week was fine but starting the second week my anxiety started to get worse again. I have been experiencing derealization and an overall brain fog. I also feel a lot more irritable. I feel crazy. Does anyone know if these are side effects and if they'll go away or if it's my anxiety or what? Thank you!!!

They are definitely side effects. I went through a lot of phases when increased my dosage. everyone is different and handles things differently but a lot of people on this post just told me to hang and try to deal with the side effects. some say it takes eight weeks some say more like 12. I would have to take an anti-anxiety medication just to help cope and I turned to many good vitamin supplements Like vitamin B complex, magnesium and others that did not interfere with the drug. Good luck to message me anytime!

    Katie,

I hope all is well. I’ve been on a few different medications and I must say that Prozac Is probably the one that is most “energizing," So I can definitely see where you would have anxiety. I did not know the ass when I started taking antidepressants, but the first one may not always be the best fit, it’s a bit of trial and error. Again, I did not know this when I started. Just my personal opinion, Prozac may not be the drug for you. Have you tried Lexapro? I know I know anxiety is one of my biggest problems, and the Lexapro seems to have more of a calming affect compare to Prozac. Just some food for thought.

Thank you!! This is my first medication I have tried. I have noticed a slight decrease in anxiety but not enough for it not to be debilitating still. I'm on a very low dose so I might consider increasing the dose.

    Hello

How's your condition?i hope you're not suffering so much.

i remember i had similar side effects.... anxiety, brain fog, derealization, worsening dissociation then tremors or shaking in my hands and legs. i felt i'll go crazy. Morning was horrible.

i took HYDROXYZINE PAM 25mg that is antihistamine for anxiety for a while.

I'm still on recovery due to my severe condition. But i've been on FLU 40mg for 22 weeks. i have no more side effect. And i don't need anti anxiety med or MIRTAZAPINE 15mg for sleep anymore.

I once took a brand PROZAC 15+ years ago. it worked well for me.

Please be patient and stick to it. it'll take 6-8 weeks for us to feel some sort of positive effects. in my case, the first sign was "less anxiety"

Hi!! Thank you so much for the reply!! My anxiety has definitely decreased significantly. I have started to get a lot more derealization which I HATE!! Do you think that will go away, and if so when? I am now on day 22.

      Hello

it sounds so good your anxiety has decreased only in 3 weeks. Its so fast!!! it took for me for 7-8 weeks. But it was the first sign for me to know med kicked in. I really think FLU is so slow acting med. I still have some dissociative symptoms but i see the world or environment as it is finally. please stick to it. Your progress seems pretty fast.

I am on day 25 and for me it is terrible fear and anxiety feelings in my stomach as soon as I wake. I have to take half a lorazipam after the 20 mg fluoxetine just to settle a bit and it does not seem to be easing as time goes by. Everyone says it takes at least 6 weeks for side effects to ease?
