first i`d like to say hi ,and introduce myself as i m new to this forum.I`ve been dxed with chronic ocd/ddd/fibromyalgia/tinnitus.Back/joint and severe muscle pains since my mid teens ,but was only taken seriously after my pain became significantly worse after my 3rd child was born.I`ve had numerous tests & proceedures ,and after discovering the damage to my lower spine and hips ,plus the fibro ,i was put on Zomorph and diazepam for pain relief. The dose has increased ,but my pain levels had mostly remained pretty high. Now my pain specialist has said it`d be beneficial to wean me ,Sowly ,off the morphine and prescribe a nerve med ,such as lyrica.I agreed and have just started this new drug ,but oh boy ,does it come with some nasty side effects. This is what brought me here ,as i`m wondering if these will subside ,or wether this medication is not for me.
I`m getting severe migraine type visual disturbances./Flashing lights/distorted vision.I also feel somewhat "high" yet don`t sleep well. When i do sit down ,totally shattered i crash straight away. Not that bad you may think ,except i`d just made a cuppa ,and came too with it pouring down my legs ,scaulding myself!!.I feel "out of it" .,cannot sit still (not helping with my ocd)..and my pain has increased! Horrid stabbing pains and severe cramping in my lower back and legs.Again if i thought this would be temporary i`d keep going ,but i`m concerned that these symptoms won`t go away.I`d be extremely grateful for any input.advice any of you may have! many thanks! sarah..

I also drop asleep without any power over staying awake usually whilst already resting on a sofa, but this is not the normal feeling of dropping off but more like the feeling of going under an anaesthetic, something due to my cancer I have a fair experience of. I have no medical knowledge but I would rather choose to cope with my pain from my liver with other pain killers such as paracetamol, and I have access to morphine when I need it. As I am a bit anti medication generally I have only used the oral morphine two or three times in the last three months or so. It seems to correct one problem I have made myself less comfortable. I am awaiting a decision for surgery. If you can avoid this drug safely, you are supposed like many to run it down before you stop I would, but please consult a GP. The drug was prescribed to help with nerve pain caused by my operations 2 years ago, now a scan reveals the pain is in fact a repeat cancer it is not necessarily a correct choice, but with on going diseases medications get in a bit of a muddle as you bounce back and forth between various health professionals. Good luck, Susan
