I suffered in blepharitus for 30yrs steadily getting worse with red eyes in the last year. Until I used the following easy successful process.

Using a cotton bud I put honey at the base of my eyelashes at night and in the morning for 1 week then at night only for 3 weeks. Success. I hope this helps. (The honey has anti bacterial properties)

I know honey is good for all sorts of things.  A friend cured a leg ulcer, caused by knocking into something, by honey, not the thin kind but thick from New Zealand.  It took a while but it worked.

I think it's called manuka honey , something like that  . the very expensive one !

Makes one wonder about very careful application of antibacterial hand gel to the lashes ? too risky i would have thought . No doubt someone must have tried it ?

I take your point about sensitivity of eyes.I don't know if you are UK or USA but this treatment of the special honey for my friend,s ulcerated leg was prescribed on NHS!  I can get details of how it was applied of course Maybe it was placed inside a cloth maybe like a poultice, I don't know.  A GP in UK might have some thoughts on subject in relation to eyes.

Hi , i'm here in the UK and only yesterday the manuka honey appeared in a very short article in the telegraph about there being more jars sold in the UK than actually produced in New Zealand ! Bought in the better stores you'd think we'd be ok to get the real stuff .

Manuks contains methylglyoxal , said to have antibacteria lqualities. However it has been found that jars on sale have varying levels of MGO so many consumers are not getting what they think they are getting .

It would be nice to think that something that natural could be the source of a cure .

    Hi Era,

I suffered for over 3 years. I now have Omega 3 in my diet on a daily basis and I no longer need any medication or artificial tears. I don't like oily fish so I have a dessert spoon of Flax seed every morning in orange juice. It works for me!

    My daily eye hygiene includes

    1. Removal of eye makeup by olive oil (soaked on cotton ball/pad)

    2. Wash my face

    3. Wash my hands

    4. Put clean cotton pads over my eyes (eyes shut) and apply the warm bag over the eyes (alternatively on each eye for about 5-7mins)

    5. Massage gently over the eyes with clean hands

    6. Wash my eyes with water

I'm doing this regime every other day or twice a week when there is no flare-up

but when it seems like I might have some blocked ones, I try this regime daily until the condition becomes stable.

wish this could help you guys a bit.

    Good luck!!!
