I've been taking codeine for over a year, has it caused my tinnitus?

Posted , 3 users are following.

im taking pain killers, anti inflammatories, anti depresents, beta blockers as well I have the contraceptive implant.

ive been suffering with tinnitus for the last year and in the past few weeks Its driven me to the brink of insanity.

im not addicted to cocodamol before anyone says anything, it's just so happens that that is the pain relief I'm prescribed.

and if it is causing my tinnitus and could potentially make it go away I will happily see my doctor and tell them I don't want to take it anymore.

will my tinnitus go away? I never suffered before, I don't go to concerts or put myself in situations where my hearing could be damaged.

its driving me crazy!!

I hate to tell you, but your tinitus wll be with you for ever, as yet, there is no cure

the way to go is to get an appointment with the hearing clinic . no doubt your

G.P will open that door. They will tell you how o cope with it ,and could offer you

a tiny ear machine, a bit like a hearing aid, that helps mask the noises

Cocodamol may  add to your prob, have you tried Paracetamol, if it's just for

    pain relief

At this point in time, I am using a Walkman listening to "a talking book "

which I find covers the noise and actually knocks it down quite well.

radio 4 on at bedtime with an hour s timing helps, as total silence makes the

     T.T seem louder

Your hearing isn't damaged, just intrfered with .

I have a rumbling and i can feel it. I also have regular tinnitus. Anxiety play a role. Medicines definetly play a role. Age doesnt help and artritic changes play a role. I hate it and it went away and recently returned when i flew home sick. Tmj plays a massive role as well. I am convinced tmj and those jaw muscle have a huge imoact on the rumbling. Because it touches my level of sanity i am working on convincing myself i have to live with it. Obviously i do. I have researched it so much and for the very few very wealthy i guess they can seek out thise specialist that have their own theories on it. For the other 99% of us mist drs do not have the ability or knowledge or time to invest in our cure. Sometimes its directly related to medicines, of which dr. Will deny but they are wrong.
