Hello everyone,

I have been having continuous mouth ulcers for the past few years or so, I told my dentist and he said to me to go to my GP to get a blood test and I did, turns out I'm low in folate, I have prescribed folic acid tablets by my GP and I'm getting them tomorrow but what happens next? I know I take them every day for the next few months but then what? I'm confused as to how I know I'm supposed to stop taking them, the nurse who told me my results told me it might be a repeat prescription, it might not, so I might have to go back and get more blood tests done, not sure, what usually happens?

Hi, I have been having mouth ulcers most of my life. I tend to have them when I am very tired&warn out and also when I am very stressed out. I have been told that they are caused by vitamin b deficiency. So I regularly taje b6, sometimes B12 or b complex. I alternate them . But as I said if I have extreme conditions I still have them. I guess if folic acid works for you then yes you may need to take them regularly. I also think if you only have been having them for 2 years it might be the fact that perimenapause making your body run down. They are so painful and unpleasant. All the best.

Thanks for your reply but why the mention of perimenopause? I'm only 23 years old and I'm male, it's my diet that's the cause of it, I don't really eat any fruits or vegetables unfortunately.
