I've been using Vagifem for a couple of weeks and now I'm having excessive wetness...

I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. I went from Sahara Desert down there to Niagara Falls. I'm just starting my third week of Vagifem. I'm glad the burning and itchiness is gone, but not so happy with the puddles! Does this go away and even out at some point?

I'm pretty wet down there now I'm using oestrogen cream but nothing compared to how I used to be naturally. Honestly, I had to wear panti pads every day and if I wasn't wearing any underpants it would run down the inside of my thighs. Wet is good. Much better than dry, itchy and sore.

For the first couple of weeks you have to use it every day, right? So, it might settle down a bit once you go onto twice a week use.

Yes, it finally did settle down. I went to twice a week and got really dry again. I am on 3 times a week now.

You need to reduce it to twice a week or less, my doctor told me to experiment with the amount of applications to find the least I need.  That should stop you from being so wet.

How many Vagifem do you use in a week?  I use 2x weekly and that is just enough for me.  You might be using to many.  Such a blessing to have this medication to have quality of life taking away the aweful discomfort from the Atrophic Vaginitis!

I have just tried to get a prescription for Vagifem and was told it is no longer available! I've had to have Ovestin cream instead.

Those of you who are using Vagifem, are you in the U.K.?

No longer available in the UK? That's interesting. I'm in the UK. I use ovestin anyway because vagifem made me swell up so much I couldn't even even get a finger in or the applicator. Ovestin is great - it has increased my natural lube and returned my vagina to the condition, elasticity and appearance of a much younger version of itself. I wonder why vagifem was withdrawn. I know that the bioidentical Estriol used in ovestin is safer than the synthetic estrodiol used in vagifem in terms of the health risks.

Thank you for your reply Suki, I have to say I was encouraged by, and I quote, "returned my vagina to the condition, elasticity and appearance of a much younger version of itself".

      Hello Sheila

i am in the US and just had my Vagifem filled.......did your doctor just not want you to have Vagifem?  That would be scary if those that use Vagifem are no longer able to get it!!

It happened fairly rapidly for me, by the end of the 1st 2 weeks (during which you have to use it daily). And sex is amazing. Another lady and I were discussing the fact that, using ovestin, we seems to be more sensitive 😉
