I've found a cure!

I have suffered with tietze's for a year and a half now but it feels like a lot longer! It started after having multiple pulmonary embolisms last year when I was only 25. But no doctor could explain why I continued to suffer with severe chest pains and other chest problems since. They just said it was tietze's and told me not much could be done.

However, one doc noticed I had a cough that I had got so used to I never really realized I had it and suggested I try an asthma/copd inhaler called symbicort to help stop the coughwhich would in turn stop the pain.

It worked!!! I rarely get the pains and discomfort anymore plus I feel less tight chested, clostrophobic, anxious, dizzy etc. Only thing was for the first few weeks the inhaler caused palpatations but that soon went away.

Any questions please ask x

Just to be clear I would never have thought that an asthma inhaler would fix the pain. I had tried the blue and brown asthma inhalers in the past and they didn't do a thing to help.

I would have described in the past that the pain was the cause of other symptoms not the other way round. Now I know that the coughing-which was very mild-was preventing the pain from getting better and going away.

Me again! I'm not very good at getting across what I'm trying to explain!

Just want to be clear, some more!! I don't have asthma so please don't think after reading the above- oh I don't have a cough or asthma so that won't help me cos what I've learnt is that just breathing prevents it from going away! From what I understand... This inhaler is unique as it relaxes the muscles around my lungs which is where the pain in tietzes comes from. Once these muscles are more relaxed, they can 'heal'. These muscles are constantly being used to breathe, cough, laugh etc. I have to stress that when this was 1st exained to me I didn't believe they really knew what tietze pain felt like and I said that it doesn't feel like a muscular pain, but now I believe them! I'm probably still not being clear sorry! [/u]
