I've Had a Phone Call 😩😳

Hi All,

My Gynaecologist secretary rang me earlier today,

She said my blood work has come back as "post" menopause and that my gynaecologist wants me to come back in 2 months to do the blood work again to make sure and to discuss everything,

I have written on here before saying that I thought I was perimenopause as my periods had been irregular the last 10 months and no period for 3 months, and how my doctor refused to acknowledge that, and said I was too young I'm 43,

I'll be 44 in July (I had blood work before with my regular GP and she said it was normal),

I said to the secretary "doesn't post menopause mean I've gone through the peri and the menopause and she said yes, the level in my blood test was in post menopause,

I'm totally in shock to think I was in perimenopause to being told I'm post menopause,

And also when I go back for the second bloodwork there going to do the stomach scan (as my stomach is constantly hurting cramping feeling and bloated etc,

Again though no talk about any medication for me to take for all the symptoms I'm having,

Anyone else had anything similar or any advice I'd really appreciate,

I don't have anyone else to talk to as my mother is terminally ill,

I feel so confused x

hi Clair, I really don't know what to say but I heard that hormones tend to fluctuate and an abnormal reading does not necessarily mean that you are post-menopausal. Maybe that's why your doctor wants to repeat the test? Please do keep us updated .

    Take care xx

    I'm just in total shock,

To have my doctor do blood tests in novemeber last year and say all of them were normal, but my prolactin level was high, and I had a repeated blood test in January but that might have just to check my prolactin levels which were still elevated

First one was 657 (if I remember correctly) and the second one was 556 so she said she would just repeat the test in 6 months time,

From her being so adamant that I was not even in perimenopausal stage to the gynecologist say I'm post menopause,

The only reason my doctor referred me to him in the first place is because I wanted to be a mother I've never conceived,

So he did the test so see if I was ovalating!

My doctor put me on the mini pill cerelle in January and said it would help, but after 7 weeks I stopped them, and to be honest that's when my periods stopped altogether before that they were irregular,

Not to sound too gross but a few weeks back I was shocked when I wiped I had a lump of clear mucus it was so thick it was like a lump of glue,

I just can't stand the thought of having to wait 2 more months of my life for this abdomen scan and repeated blood tests,

Honestly I've been waiting so long just to be told what's going on and then given options of treatments so I can start my life again,

My knees are so bad cracking and now have fluid around them and no doctor will listen the last one told me over the phone

    "Take some paracetamol" !

I've been in bed all day with my stomach hurting making weird noises it's like it's being squeezed or the worst period cramps ever, I get it every day and the more days pass the worse it gets

Clair, I haven't got experience with your exact problem but I do know how unnerving having to wait can be. I understand you are confused right now, it must be really hard for you. You can just wait for the next tests of course but you could also ask for a second opinion. Maybe a second opinion from an endocrinologist perspective this time, that could be useful too, you can let them know your previous results and start from there. And then in two months time you can see the gynecologist.

    Keep us updated xx
