I've had a strange sore throat that hasn't really gotten better

A few days ago, I woke up with a strong sore throat and upon looking in my mouth, the whole back of my throat was extremely red surrounded with white spots (including the uvula). It hurt to swallow or eat really anything. I was tested for COVID-19, mono, and strep throat, all of which came back negative. The nurses at the clinic where I was tested for mono and strep said that it was likely thrush, and prescribed me a medication to gargle with. This was three days ago, and after talking to my pediatrician (who I'm obviously unable to see) she said she doesn't believe that it is thrush and told me to stop taking the prescribed gargle, and to use home remedies such as gargling with salt water or having hot tea. She wouldn't prescribe me an antibiotic, and although the white spots are nearly gone and it looks less red by the day, the pain has yet to subside, and my only relief comes from taking Advil. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or how to treat it? I was particularly worried it was mono because I was with my girlfriend this week, but she feels zero symptoms of anything and I tested negative. Any information would be helpful, thank you!

Sounds like a viral sore throat. Antibiotics wont have any effect. Throats like this can be very painful but do usually clear within 7-10 days. Just keep gargling to help relieve the symptoms.

Drinking lots of water has really helped me flush out and it feels much better today. Thank you!
