I’ve had abdominal pains for 10 years now. They are getting progressively worse, what should I do?

Hi there,

I’ve joined this website in the hope of having an idea of what to do and that someone may be having the same symptoms as me. So I have had abdominal pains for 10 years now (I’m 17 now) and they are getting progressively worse. About the pain:

- Lying down helps

- Heat helps

- Pressure helps

- Being in water helps

- Painkillers which help (for a short amount of time) morphine, codamol, CBD oil

- Tens machine didn’t help (the pain is equivalent to 8/9 on the machine)

- Comes in waves

- It pulses

- Pain moves

- Diets don’t help

- Being hungry makes it worse

- Urine is NORMAL

- Discharge is NORMAL

- Excretion is NORMAL

- Period is NORMAL

- Rare vomiting

- Weight is the same

- Appetite is the same

- When in pain chest feels as though it’s being crushed and nose swells up

- Many scans all came back normal aside from a strange liquid (which was said to be a symptom of an STD but I am a virgin so it has been pushed aside and told to be not important)

- Cuts found in upper intestines from colonoscopy - however pain moves around so may be unrelated.

If anyone is experiencing these symptoms or has an idea of what it could be please message. Additionally, living in constant pain has left me bedridden and caused a state of depression, which has left me suicidal. I’m not sure how to cope with this because most suicidal help is along the lines of “it’ll get better” and I’m pretty sure I will never be cured, so all I am is a huge burden on everyone around me. I can’t tell anyone about how I feel because they’re all so loving and I feel very selfish.

    Hi

You sound very sensible and knowledgeable about your problem which must be terrible having had the pain for such a long time.

You mention that you have a tear which resulted from

a Colonoscopy. .this sounds as though the procedure might be the cause..or was the pain apparent before you had this done?

There is nothing worse than pain to make you feel depressed but you must go to see a specialist and demand that they give you a scan to see if anything in your tummy is giving you pain. You might be young but are mature enough to know this needs sorting out quickly. Good luck..dont be afraid or worried...I am sure the right treatment will soon relieve you of the pain and you will start to enjoy the long and happy life in front of you. X

    Hi curious42118

Can you please be more specific about the pain.. you say 'abdominal pain' but where in the abdomen. The abdomen covers many areas and organs...

Were you given a pelvic ultrasound to check for cysts?  Did you have this pain before your colonoscopy?  Go back to your doctor since your pain is 8/9.

You cannot be sure that your pain will never be cured; only a doctor can tell you this.  The more you worry, the greater the pain will be,  try distraction techniques like a hobby to relax you.

I had bad abdominal pain in 2015 and I told myself that I would never get better and would never get diagnosed because no one knew anything for three months. However, I refused to give up and continued to dig for answers.. In the end, I was diagnosed with IBS and my symptoms did get better including my health anxiety.   I rarely have flare ups now.

Keep seeing different doctors and tell them how hopeless you feel and they will reassure you and diagnose you in the end because they have the knowledge and expertise. I saw several doctors.  I told the last doctor I saw how hopeless, stressed and anxious I was and this is what got me answers.  In my case, my stress had triggered IBS.  Though, I don’t know what you have.  Sometimes, it can be the simplest thing that can identify the problem. I am often anxious so I didn’t connect it to my symptoms at first.

It will get better for you; there will be someone out there to help you. Write down all your symptoms; I did this and it really worked for me.

Where is the pain located? Can you give more details on this?

    What diets have you tried?

Sorry you're dealing with this... I was in an insane amount of pain for a very long time and no doctor could help me. Thankfully mine was fixed by diet. It was misery and I will never forget how hopeless I felt. I do understand where you are coming from but there IS hope.

Also where is the liquid in your body?
