I had carpel tunnel release surgery 5 years ago and it seemed to have worked but the last couple of days I have started getting symptoms again is this possible? I don't want to go through surgery again.

Yes it's possible, though 5 years is quite early for a recurrence unless you have a heavy manual occupation. Dealing with recurrences is more difficult than treating the original CTS and deserves the attention of a specialist hand surgeon. Dr J Bland

    Hey sm_leah,

I too was in your shoes but don't stress there is something you can do and it doesn't require surgery. Go to this site carpal tunnel t r e a t m e n t dot net and you'll get the help you are looking for believe me. August 28 2014 is when i had surgery and it came back almost immediately. I had carpal tunnel release and ulnar release the same day. Sorry you'll have to figure out the site like this...the bots are automatic and will take the site away so i had to write it like that. But honestly get your head out of surgery again its not the remedy besides good luck getting another Dr to open you up if you didn't like the first one.

    Best of luck,

    Damian
