Hey. I'm 15 and I was diagnosed with hs at 14. I was wondering if anyone had any useful tips on how to deal with this. I was also wondering about what to wear during summer. Just in case anyone asks, I have already been on humira for around 9 months. It hasn't helped now.

Try avoiding nightshade foods. Avoiding them put my HS into remission. Google the types of nightshades.

I stay in remission by not eating the foods I'm sensitive to. Nightshades, coconut and nuts for me! Nightshades can be harmful to autoimmune conditions due to their natural pesticide. Good luck!

Hi. I've had HS for a few years and I'm 27. I was only diagnosed last year but I had had it before even knowing what it was. I probably have a mild case compared to some but don't be fooled it's still awful regardless but what I do is when I've got painful bumps in my armpits cuz that's where I have it the worst I take tylenol and it does help. Whe my bumps turn into holes though I cover them with a gauze pad and use sensitive skin pain free tape and keep them covered majority of the time cuz they heal better while being covered. I do let them breath here and there but also kepping them covered kinda helps cover up the odor that they can create. I hate that part especially. It's gross. I have tried doing warm compresses but I just didn't think they worked for me but I also didn't make as hot as I could stand it so I would have to try it again that way. I haven't had any surgeries to have any of the HS removed but believe me it has crossed my mind a million times, even doing it myslef just to get away from it but obviously I wouldn't do that cuz that's just crazy...but I have my moments where I'm at my wit's end with it but I just carry on. It's a hard pill to swallow knowing the fact that you have a skin disease that's incurable but it just makes us all stronger. As for summer clothes try to wear loose fitting clothes, they will become your best friend. Tight fitting clothes even if it doesn't feel tight can cause flare ups cuz it does to me. As of bathing suits well depending on what type of bathing suit you wear or would wear maybe try to have it a tiny loose than too snug as long as it's not so loose that it keeps falling obviously lol but other than that bathing suits are bathing suits and they all have some snugness to them so there might not be anything you can do about that type of "clothing" if you will. Also cotton clothing is the best cuz it's breathable. Having HS is a very emotional thing so having the support you need from friends and family will be very helpful through this hard time in your life...and you have this as well. One way or another you will be pulled through it (support wise.) Well good luck and wish you well.
