I’ve had no sense of taste for at least 2 weeks

Hi there. So I'm not sure whats caused this but I've lost my sense of taste completely. Approximately two weeks ago, i was out having drinks with friends and i had a big mac. I noticed the big mac was incredibly spicy and the next day i had no sense of taste. The DR has taken my bloods and i rang today to be told everything is normal I've made an appointment for tomorrow but is there any treatment i should enquire about? Will my taste come back?

did you have any dental work done recently where you had an injection?

may not be related but a possibility. my husband lost his sense of taste and developed tinnitus after the dentist hit the chorda tympani nerve when injecting him for, of all things, a filling almost five years ago. he has been in pain and suffering every day since then. he noticed the loss of taste the very next day. we have been to countless drs. and either they throw their hands up in the air or deny it was the injection. you will need to be your own advocate, I'm afraid. Get your primary physician to refer you to a taste and smell clinic ASAP. they may be able to help.

Hi, did your sense of taste ever come back? What has your doctor said? I'm going through the same thing. Ate something one day, then the following morning I couldn't taste anything. Went to the doctor and they only told me to wait it out since I could smell, but not taste. It's been 2 weeks and I still can not taste anything.

      hi mo5866,

sorry for the late reply. Firstly, please don't take any messing about from your Dr. So basically i was referred to ENT who couldn't diagnose the problem. ENT referred me to a maxilo facial surgeon who diagnosed me as having oral thrush (check in the mirror for a coating on your tongue)

I was successfully treated and i still have no taste. The surgeon isn't sure whats caused my loss of taste and has now referred me to the dental hospital.

Oh and another thing. Make sure your dr sends you for bloods. I was told by mine an iron deficiency could be a cause but unfortunately for me, it wasn't..

Good luck, and if you need any help more help. Let me know
