    Hi

if you google symptoms of lowering oestrogen you will find it is hot flushes, fatigue, palpitations etc .so it sounds like you need the vagi fem . it’s very difficult in the peri menopause as one week your oestrogen drops  like a brick giving you these symptoms the next week your progesterone drops and your oestrogen is dominant .. the side effect to watch out for on vagifem is stomach cramps and nausea .. that seems to be the main symptom for it .. if you get this symptom just space your doses wider apart ..

i like you was very nervous when I first used it .. I had stomach symptoms, I thought it was a side effect later found out hiatus hernia .. every symptom I had I panicked it was the vagifem .. it wasn’t .. i weaned it down to once every 10 days never again the pain in my bladder 😱 that is when I realised I needed it .. so I do 3 days 4 days basically twice a week .. and if I get symptoms of oestrogen dominance just google .. I do 4 days 4 days if I get what you have at the moment I do 3 days 3 days ..

once I stop the peri menopause yo-yo hormones and balance I would like to space out to once a week but my body will tell me if I need it twice a week ..

i have had a breast lump removed non cancerous and the surgeons are not worried by vagifem as it’s so low a dose .. which is why unlike the full blown HRT it’s not stopping your hot flushes etc .. it really only addresses where you use it ..

    hope that helps ..

Hi Sally Tks for info re vagifem. I.have been told to take this for two weeks every night and  then reduce to one twice weekly did you do that initially?I don't quite understand what u mean by using it 3days 4days. Can you use it wwhatever way u feel works for you..and just whenever u feel u need to... Interesting you had bladder trouble...same problem here.Tks.

      Hi

yes same here .. it was about 18 months ago I was given it and started taking it every night for 2 weeks .. ok I was dead nervous and on day 10 , I had stomach cramps and nausea so I looked at side effects and totally panicked so I stopped using it for a week , which was stupid as actually I had gluten intolerance and hiatus hernia I have now realised , but when you start something new you are so on edge .. anyway my bladder pain had gone and stinging  which was great but after a week of not using it started to return .. I went to gp explained she was like , you need to take it .. so I started to take the regular maintenance  dose I took it every 3rd night until my symptoms improved than twice a week so  the 3rd night say Wednesday then 4th night Sunday .. it says this on its instructions .. twice a week ..

if I keep to this dose my bladder doesn’t sting ... and dryness is not present ..  you asked if you can use as and when not really as it’s so low it takes the 2 weeks of taking each night to build the dose up . so if you don’t take regularly , it quickly drops and symptoms return ... I learnt this to my peril I asked as I mentioned earlier lots of health professionals and they all feel this is very low dose .. hrt .. it doesn’t in anyway help my peri menopause symptoms , hot flushes, anxiety fatigue etc as it only is absorbed into the area applied ..unlike HRT which totally reverses menopause ..but unlike HRT the risks are minimal ...my gp said at the moment it’s all fantastic and really great re dangers and side effects  but in years to come it could change but that’s medicines ..

anyway I have adjusted to it and I am telling you I can’t bear the pain of stinging burning bladder ... so I use it and I am comfortable ..😀

hope that helps but I still every time I feel unwell think it’s a side effect .. then discover I’ve got a fatty liver etc .. I hate taking something unnatural but I need it ..
