I've had sinusitis on and off for 3-4 years. Can we all share symptoms please?????

I dread it when I feel my symptoms coming on because I know I've got a long few weeks/months ahead of me!

Does anyone else have the tingling on the left side of face? Along with the constant head aches. Eyes feel like their popping out. Ears constantly ringing. Feeling sick. Dizzy?

I went to ENT when it first started but he wasn't very helpful.

What's everyone else's symptoms?

Yes! Mine is also most problematic on the left side of my face.

I am 29 and live in Cheshire in the uk. I've had sinus trouble since a severe sinus infection when I was 16 and I think it caused some long term damage. I have had sinusitis more prominatly for the past 5 years. This year has been the worst I have ever known it to Be, especially during hayfever season. I have kept a sinus diary for the past 4 months and I didn't realise how bad it was until I wrote it down to show the doctor. I recommend jotting your daily symptoms in a diary, note book or Calender.

I am on a four month course of steroid spray treatment and reaching my final month. The steroids give relief of the blocked nose, but has not solved my problem! Or relieve much pressure in other areas! After the steroid treatment they said they can refer me to a specialist so I will keep you posted.

I steam my head regularly to clear my sinuses and thin the mucus that won't drain away properly. It's the most effective relief! If I'm in work I fill a cup of boiling water and hold it under my nose.

    Try it smile

      Hi

      This is Marzieh,

Just want to let you know that steroid helps at the beginig but after few months it has reverse effect and make the symptoms worse. Rinsing with normal saline spray is really good. The best one I found is neildmed which walgreens has it. When the headache is bad sudafed really helps.

Yeah I thought it was making me worse! The doctor said I had to do Atleast 4 months until they can refer me to a specialist, which is annoying. The saline spray is brilliant! smile glad we are all slowly figuring out what works and what doesn't haha

Sorry everyone is suffering , I am too fed up with gps not taking me seriously , I am waiting to see an ENT specialist but waiting time is a year sad so il be waiting until August 2016, my symptoms are awful neck headaches with eye pain , nose pain , cheeks full of pressure , feeling of sites in nose and a low grade fever constant every afternoon , feel sick and dizzy with hateful ringing / droning in ears , was only back at my gp this morning because I'm sick of feeling sick and when he checked out my nose he said it was bright red and my ears are red inside also but some flap in the ears is sunk in on my left ear due to sinus problem which I'm confused about , I don't know much about all this except how rough I feel sad

Hi Danielle, I have only recently had these symtoms, since just before christmas, I can handle the constant pressure, aching gums, but its the dizziness!!! Sometimes its just disorienation, other times its horrific, off balance!!!! I can however relate to the ringing ears, 1 eye ready to pop out!!! How long do you have these symtoms at any one time? I've had the on/off dizziness for 5 weeks and its torture!!!!

Hi sorry to but in but 7 months on now and I still have a burning nose, cheeks full of pressure and the connection. Between my ears which are always hot through my cheeks to my upper gums. If I lye on the left side my upper left gums hurt if I lye on the right the right side and front of my gums hurt. So much so that the Dr has mention trigeminal neuralgia. It's just adding to the confusion. I may be seeing an ENT next month. All I'm on now I''s steroids spray and amitripyline

      I'll keep you's updated.

      Hi pauline,

Welcome to all of us who are suffering the same x

I'm fedup back and forth to docs and different "specialists".

I have recently been to a neurologist as I was referred there as they thought it was a firm of migraine, neurologist thinks not! Lol she thinks it definitely an ENT ISSUE! So I've been back to docs and he referring me back to another ENT.

I'm 99.9% certain its an issue with my sinuses and eustation tube bit who are we to tell them how to do their job.. It's just our bodies afterall. Lol

My doctor said he thinks it's chronic sinusitis and will just eventually "go away" but in the mean time I "may just have to live with it" !

Yeah ok for you to say, 3 years down the line and yes I'll agree not as bad as what it was the first year but still... It's really beginning to affect my daily life.. Afraid to go anywhere far incase I have a woozy head. sad

I explain to ppl its like waking everyday with a constant head cold.

Recently I've noticed a new symptom, I get muscle Twitching/spasms around my temples.... Anyone else?

      Hope you feel better soon.

I live on sudafed and steam lol

      Hi Emma!

3years!!!! Wow! I get kinda twitching around my temples if I'm reall having a bad day, but for me it's because I, unknowingly, grit my teeth when I'm really dizzy or my heads really sore. When I relax I notice it.

I've been to dentist again because of the constant face pain and they've x rayed both sides and my teeth apart from one small filling needed are fine. I seen for my own eyes how close the sinus wall is to the teeth so no wonder they affect the teeth. Will probably be going to a ENT specialist that's the next plan . Still get aching burning ears, face ache and sometimes tingling in my head which becomes a worry on itself.

In exactly the same, I notice I clench my jaw when I'm really bad and when I tell myself to relax that's when I notice it, also when I'm lying in bed relaxed, I've been told it could be a jaw problem that's causing it all, but I only notice the jaw problem (tmj)when all the rest flares up...

That's the only time I'm ok is when I'm lying in bed or just sitting on my own relaxed.

I don't know if this is relevant too but I've been told prior to ask this that I squint Alot.. Maybe it could be that, I do wear specs but only for reading. Maybe I need them all the time now... Only thing is my vision keeps changing some days it's fine but when I have the head pressure etc my eyes hurt behind and slighly blur.

And also terrible neck tension at the back up the bad of the skull,I always feel like my shoulders are tensed too.

Maybe we need to see a chiropracter,to loosen is up. smile

I can't believe how much we all share in commen, yet every ent dismisses the facts.

      sad

Do any of you have any problems with jaw ie clicking or popping out or deviating to one side.

The only thing I notice is of I place my finger on the joint in front Of the ear and open my mouth one side slighly pops out the joint if you understand what I mean, not fully out but just out slightly, but eating etc doesn't bother me.

Your right! I get jaw pain either side of my face sometimes, no clicking thankfully!

Do you find anything helps your aches etc, only thing I think helps is pseudephodrine with ibuprofen and paracetamol, only takes the edge off but doesn't go away, my jaw pain only seems to Happen when my ears are full with fluid. sad

      Hi emma

its years since ive seen anyone other than my gp who is quite happy to prescribe antibiotics and tells me to go bk to see him if its no better. My head feels like its going to explode at times when i lie down im conjested on one side and i most definately wake up with a headache facepain everday! And i get fever symtems too.

    • Posted

I hate how one person can tell you one thing and another tell you something else, I got told off one gp that I shouldn't take pseudephodrine for more than 7 days yet another gp told me to keep taking it if that's what helps... I had a ct scan and the GPS I see all ask what were the results, I feel like saying excuse me you should have the results on my file lol. I have a deviated septum and the right side turbinates were inflammed and narrow.. Yet that shouldn't be the problem!!! ... Erm why not, that's what's causing my build up etc, I won't rest till I'm treated, a friend of mine used to suffer the exact same thing and they had to have a sinus scrape, but he said he felt so much better after for years, but unfortunately some ppl have to have it done again, I've also read that sometimes it can be fungus not bacteria too. X

Its a nightmare i had a good gp years ago before i moved i had xrays which said i had sinusitis she told me i could have them flushed out but advised agains it as its a horrible procedure and doesnt always work . Like you i take sudafed and ibuprofen im starting to rattle lol might actually try and drag myself to see gp tomorrow if ican find the energy i just feel so drained and if i can get an appointment even thats impossible at times x

Yes we had a lovely gp, used to be great when could see the same gp ago the time, now I have to see many different ones and repeat myself.

My friends said flushing them is great, worked for him, I believe GPS tell you this coz obviously it costs them to refer you.

I have considered using a neti pot thing to flush them myself but I'm scared sad
