I've had two bladder neck incisions, one with dilatation. Three cystoscopies. Many trips to the toilet, doctor, hospital. Last operation I had, Mr Blair's choice of hospital not mine, I was told by a surgeon I'd never seen before that my problem was caused by drinking tea. My urethra had become narrow because of drinking tea and if I gave up this habit all would be well.
I am now to go for a bladder pressure test. These things are always 'two to three months' although in reality they are usually over six months. I was told by one nurse that my local hospital (we used to have nine but they've all been demolished to be replaced by a monstrosity) that the hospital was so good that patients from the south of England were coming up to have their operations done here which was why we have to travel 20 miles or more for ours. I wouldn't mind if I thought the doctors knew what they were doing but when you get asked by the consultant if you've had 'this procedure done before' when he's already done two you begin to wonder. Well, I do.
The site is very good although what I was looking for was specific information on bladder pressure tests as my own local hospital likes to surprise people although I'd rather know something.

So: did you give up tea, and did it make any difference?
