I've had UTI symptoms for 3 weeks now, tried 3 different antibiotics and nothing has worked. HELP!!

I have had many UTIs in the past and usually it is fixed the day that I start taking an antibiotic. 3 weeks ago, I started feeling the symptoms of a bad UTI so I started taking the Ciprofloxacin pills that usually cure my UTI. This time after 3 days they had no effect. So, I asked my doctor if I could try a different antibiotic and he prescribed me Cefdinir 300MG. I took these every 12 hours for 10 days and they havent worked either. The symptoms come and go. Sometimes the symptoms are severe and sometimes they are mild, but I can always feel it. I went to my Gynecologist today and got my urine tested, it came back negative for a UTI, but the nurse said the antibiotics that ive been taking could effect the results of the test (possibly causing it to come back negative) so they are sending it in to be cultured. But I cant wait any longer this is horrible and even if the cultures dont show that its a UTI thats causing this its the exact symptoms so Idk what else it could be!! Now my Gynecologist prescribed me Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160mg tablets. I am supposed to take these every 12 hours. I took the first of these pills 6 hours ago and feel no relief. My main symptoms are constant need to urinate, but when I go to pee, not even a drop comes out. I also feel a burning sensation coming from my bladder area all the time. i wake up from it, try to go to sleep with it. nothing helps. I also feel like the more I go pee, the more it triggers it, Im not sure why. It only feels better to lay in the bath, but clearly I cant do that all day everyday. I was thinking about going to a Urologist, but I worry that he/she might not be able to do anything for me either and it could possibly be a long wait to get an appointment. I will do anything to get some relief right now. PLEASE help ugh!! this is horrible!

    Hi Allie

I am currently experiencing the same situation, on third antibiotic, no improvement . It is a repeat of a similar bout that lasted nearly 5 weeks 6 months ago and just seemed to past eventually. My previous episode was accompanied by very painful spasms. This time around its more chronic pelvic, lower tummy, lower backache discomfort, lower back ache, feeling like sh*te, constant pressure to of wee.

My urine samples not showing anything as on antibiotics. GP said in future have urine sample BEFORE start any antibiotics. Urine samples are not great anyway in detecting certain bacterial infections. She also mentioned I could be antibiotic resistant and may need to go to hospital for iv antibiotics. I just got a new prescription for mirabegron to relax my bladder as she thinks my constant need/feeling of pressure to pee could be caused by spasms (OVERACTIVE BLADDER - OAB)

second day on them, feel a slightimprovement. She said can take two weeks to fully kick in. Otherwise I'm going to insist on a Urology consultant.

Just wanted to share my experience so far as it may be helpful. I would say I am going through Menopause, you sound a lot younger so may be different. Take care, let us know how you get on.
