Hi Lynne
unfortunately UC is a condition that affects people differently. There are many medications, mezaline being just one! I suggest you continue with it as directed, along with the colafoam and see how you get on. Gastro enterologist will review you and if mezaline doesn't work for you, other meds will be tried. I don't know if it has been suggested that you follow any particular diet? I have suffered from UC for 6 years now and find a low fibre diet and plenty of drinking water, although not a cure, certainly helps. Keeping a food diary too of what agrees or disagrees with me, and eating small and often is effective!
I wish you good luck, let us know how you get on! A rotten disease! Try not to let it get you down!

Hi Lynne,
I was diagnosed with UC early May and was given Mesalazine foam enemas but they unfortunately didn't work for me, they made me bleed more and it was black blood so they were stopped. I then had no meds whilst waiting for my Consultant appointment to come through and I got it for the end of July!! So I had to get my GP to ask the Consultant for something in the meantime. I'm now on Colifoam enemas twice a day but only started them this morning so too early to say if they're working yet.Let me know how you get on, we're both so new to this! Claire
