Hi, newbie here,  I've been having leg pains when standing and trapped nerves in my thighs, went to the docs and he gave my anti-inflamatories, but no effect. Then went for an x-ray and got my results

1. Spina bifida occulta of L5

2. Scoliosis of the lumber spine concave to the right

3. Spondylolisthesis grade 1 at L5/S1 joint with slight anterior slip of L5 on S1

4. Arthritis - osteophytes in most of the vertebrae.

I am a 42 year old female, not overweight, physically fit non smoker - all a bit of a shock, wasn't expecting this, not sure what the future holds for me with regard to mobility?

Well you certainly seem to be down on your luck. I have spina bifida occulta and have had two operations so far, both very successful. I have nerve damage to my bladder and bowel but that was due to GP leaving it for so long second time around. Do you have a tethered cord? Operation is pretty quick for that and usually in hospital a week. As for scoliosis what is your degree of curvature? Normally they just monitor up to 45' and contemplate surgery on anything over that. My daughter is 2 weeks post op for operation on her 75' curvature and so far everything is looking really promising. This is a much longer operation. As for the other two I don't know but I really hope they can get you sorted. Sorry if I haven't been much help

Thanks for the reply. The doc didn't say anything about the spina bifida, or the degree of curvature, just said I've got artritis and gave my co-codemal and told me what exercises are best and what activities to avoid, he didn't really indicate if any of the problems were serious, aside from the pain, i don't know if I should be concerned, asking for more tests etc.
