I've lost 7 lb in a week, which is fantastic, but I feel terrible. I can't sleep, I've got a funny taste in my mouth, feel constantly sick and have got a horrific headache. I'm getting my bp checked tomorrow, but think I'll stop taking them I feel so ill.

Hi I had really bad experience with Reductil, Doctor didnt keep eye on me went 5 months without blood pressure check, felt so sh*t palpitations, hot sweats, major headaches, racing pulse. saw another doctor she took me off them straight away, did blood pressure (which hasn't come down in 8 weeks of stopping) so i now have to go to have kidney scan to see if they have messed them up: Please dont be fooled by these, they will just make you ill.

Obviously a medication can not suit all people taking it but i just wanted to say that in 4 weeks of taking the pills i have lost 14 lbs and the only side effect i have is a dry mouth. My blood pressure remains fine and i have no ill effects.

Blood pressure should of been observed regularly and the medication stopped earlier if there was a problem. It does state this on patient information leaflets. Your doctor should of ensured you got this support.

I have found it extremely difficult to loose more than 7lb in the past and reductil has made me feel full quickly. I do not think about food inbetween meals now im taking it and drink much more water because of dry mouth. Water intake also helps wieght loss because your body retains less fluid.

I think this will help me when i stop taking the medication as i will learn to cook and eat smaller portion sizes. i have another 4 stone to loose but I have lost the first stone easily. I have realised that it is not miracle pill however and you can not eat lots of high cal foods and still loose. I have had a healthy diet but have incuded treats like occasional wine and take away.

I just wanted to put the other view across. Any medication you look at will

have adverse effects on some people but be wonderful for others. The important thing is to read the information leaflet and look up the medication before you take it so you make a fully informed choice for yourself. This way you will know what support you need from your gp and can make sure you get it.
