I’ve made myself a nervous wreck!

Hi,

I started seeing a dermatologist who specializes in LS. I was originally on a medium potency steroid given to me by a different derm who made it seem like she knew a lot about LS but it turns out she didn’t. Anyways, my new derm gave me clob to use 1-2 times per week. As soon as I started using it, I started to become more irritated or started a new flare. I was using it almost daily so he had me see my gyn to rule out a yeast infection. We ruled that out, I finished my cycle and started feeling almost 100% better. I’m down to about 2-3 times a week with clob.  For the last week or so I have been experiencing this weird ache on my right labia that has been off an on. I called my derm and I’m going to see him on the 23rd. In the meantime I have asked Dr. Google and have now scared myself and I’m convinced that I have cancer. I don’t have any itching, swelling or visible sores, just this weird ache. It feels like a bruise but I only feel it when I’m standing. I don’t feel it when pressure is applied. I know our risk for cancer is low and some have said they don’t even worry about that, but I can’t figure out what this pain is. Has anyone else experience this? Am I crazy for assuming cancer?

Maybe it is a vein. That fills with blood when you stand, which would feel like a bruise, or swelling in general, when you stand. Have you tried ice packs

    Hi Kathy -

Yes I have had the same pain same area but only for a time and then it disappeared and haven't had it since.  Thinking back, I wonder it might have been when I first started using the clobetasol.  Maybe the clobetasol allowed the tissue that had been affected by the LS to start to heal and that change resulted in some slight pain in inself.  I would not worry yet.

Kathy, I know that exact feeling on the labia! That’s what initiated me to go see my gyno 6 mo ago when I was diagnosed with LS! They will most likely do what was done to me: They took a small sample (Don’t worry- it felt like a quick pull of a hair 😖wink for biopsy.  I was so relieved to hear that it was not “the C word” because the pain was so uncomfortable that I figured it just had to be that! But the LS was diagnosed then, and I have been better with elimination of sugars and alcohol and carbs, plus Clob twice a week.! Is it limited to your labia or do you have it toward the perineal/ around anus area? Don’t worry because I thought I would never get better and six months later I feel so much better! Hang in there, but make dietary changes asap!

Yes i have it as the worst affected area for me is my labia .

Vasoline as a barrier but the betnovate ointment three times a day helps a lot .

    Hope this helps 😘
