I've no insurance and need to find out what's going on so I can look for at-home treatment.

I'm a 35 year old female.  In 1998 I had a gastric bypass.  The surgeon I used told my family and I that I had stomach ulcers.  He thought it was a bit strange because I was only 19 at the time.  For the past several years I have been, on ocassion, experiencing intense nausea, a sort of burning sensation in my stomach, heartburn and black stools. And, like I said, this comes and goes and Ibelieve that it has been due to some bleeing in my stomach.  I'm always pale.  I know that I can not absorb B-12 well due to my bypass. I also experience heavy menstrual cycles that usually consists of large clots and pretty painful cramps.  For the past several weeks, I have been experiencing nausea, painful bloating, lots of flatulence, a pain in and around the area slightly above my natural waist line and about 1-3 inches under my ribcage. This pain can be sharp at times and dull at others. If I put anything other than pepto bismal in my stomach I feel nauseated.  And although I'm pale I think my skin looks a little yellow.  I need some help here.  I know I should see a physician but, like I said, I've no insurance and can not affford a bill from a physician.  I need a way to treat these issues at home.  I don't want to ignore it and let it get any worse.  I hope that somebody can help me.

I agree you need to go to accident and emergency.

if it's an ulcer drugs now treat ulcers and heal them .

If your liver is struggling a blood test will tell .

If you leave it something which right now could be treated by a course of tablets may end you up in an ambulance being rushed to a and e.

sorry you don't have insurance we are so spoilt here in uk with nhs.

Dear no insurance. i to had a gastric bypass done in 2004. i found out that when i had the ulsers so bad that i could not take much of anything, but one day someone told me to try Alo vera Jell in my drinks that i could drink. it is not to high to buy that and sometimes you can find it already in some waters you can buy. i had to do away from any kind of greasy foods. although i like it hot. but them kind of things hurt me. Do you know or not if the Dr that did your Gastric bypass took your Gallblader or not. My Dr was supost to have taken mine and after a few days ago i found out he did not take it. and am going to need to have it removed due to it has turned porcaland gallblader. on the B-12 , have you tryed the shots of B-12? i find that when i get the B-12 from the weight loss clinic i can have my wife give them to me and feel so much better. i hope all  gets better for ya and hope i have helped maybe a little.

Thanks to everyone who responded and future responders.  I really do recognize that I should see a physician but the monetary strain that it would have on my family is what has kept me from doing anything about it.  I know I should see someone but I just keep telling myself that I will get better so I continue to try and tough it out.  I also tell myself that a doctor will send me a bill but if my condition kills me, my life insurance will cover the cost of a funeral and have the benefit of a little extra cash to cover other debt.  It keeps me from doing anything about it. Thanks again for the responses.

      How about a pharmacist.

Omeprazole the ulcer healing drug can be bought over the counter without prepscription. They train for years are very knowledgable.

hate to say this don't think this will kill you just leave you unable to work and disabled ..which would put your family in a worse position... Health is a priority..

In my opinion medical professionals are what you need, if going yellow you could have start of pancreatitis, that is really serious. Plus you need to check out your stools. In UK we have NHS so need nor worry about medical bills. Can you not get insurance? It may be cheaper for you in the long run. I hope you get sorted soon. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Foutainoflife, It sounds like you are very low in iron due to blood loss that's why you may be pale, if you have an ulcer the best thing is Yogurt ice cream at the yogurt shop many people with bad ulcers have found out that there is stuff in yogurt ice cream that helps ulcers my Mother had them bad and a lady that owned a yogurt shop was very bad to the point of surgery and she found out yogurt helped her so much she opened 2 honey pot yogurt shops so that would help for a fast ulcer relief, but it's not good to have yellowish skin a little concerning. Are you in the U.S. ? Have you tried going to "Doc in the Box" that's a client like Med care it cost about $35.00 for a visit or if you have a Rite Aid with a client they help people with no insurance very low cost my husband had to do that. But when you get a chance I would see a doctor. A far as your periods you maybe going through early signs of menopause or you have fibroids which is cysts in your uterus that cause heavy bleeding and cramping which they can laser and slow down the bleeding my Sister had it done, I have the same problem but I'm older so I'm hoping in time it stops. Most are not cancerous but you need to have it checked to make sure not to scare you. But I would start with yogurt right away for your ulcer at least you can feel a little better. Hope this help you. Good luck!! don't hesitate if you have more questions I know how it feels to be strapped and need medical care.

Also don't take iron supplement without at least talking to a pharmacist they would know what to do and how much because you can take to much and it wouldn't be good. You may be low on magnesium as well.
