I've now having noises in my ears

I was given a hearing aid last week, I am now having noises in my ears, like an engine running etc. I use oxygen and a nippy ventilator so I don't know what to do. Its really getting me down, not sleeping much which I need to do.

I am 49 years old. The specialist couldn't do AN MRI scan on my ears as I couldn't lie flat, don't know whether they can do a CT scan either, I thought he would have offered something when I couldn't have the MRI, I am a bit cross, I am worse since having the hearing aid, my hearing was going but at least I could use the phone which I can't now, that is really getting me down as I'm not always with my partner so we contact each other by telephone, that is the only way I communicate a lot of the time as I can't always go outw ith my breathing problems.

Please help

I can only comment on h/aids, which if you have only had a wk

its not unusual to have all kinds of different noises, so h/aids need

to be tried in a quite enviroment, for a few hours at a time,

and could take a couple of months to get used to

if you get noises, try headphones playing music, until you feel

mentally strong enough to consentrate on somethink that

the noises fade into background, there is a good range of

    amplifying phones available,

most with hearing losses text by phone, e-mail

I can't see why a hearing loss should be associated with any other

    health problem

    good luck

hi, you will hear all the sounds around you with a hearing aid, so you are most likely hearing your oxygen or ventilator as well as all everything else.

I have a special; phone with a boost  to the sound and you can do other things with the tone etc.depending on the state of your hearing,  if you remove your aid, and just use the phone its ok, it worked for me.

you need to put phone to top of your ear where mic is on the aid if you stay with it..

Another way is using the skype to contact your partner , this also helps me, as you can increase all the sound of the contact

.another way keeping the aid in is to put the phone on the speaker and with the boost on, this is really loud, drives my husband daft but i need it to be like that

. I hope this info may have helped. The hearing societies may be able to help you obtain a phone like this-wortha try, good luck

I have got hearing aids in both ears, and I get a continuing droning (bit like if you are waiting on an underground station, and the train is approaching from the tunnel) and this has too gotten worse since Ive had the aids.

I actually thought this was a type of tinnitus, so up to now, havent done anything about it.  Just thought it was something that I was going to live with.

I have a hospital appointment in a few weeks time, and I am going to ask the consultant this question.  Ive found, as I said, its got worse since Ive had my hearing aids, but without them I wouldnt be able to hear anything, so I guess Ive just put up with it.  But this is on my list of questions that I shall ask when I have my appointment.

I dont know how you manage with just one aid!!!  There have been times when my aids have been blocked, and I know how hard it is to manage with just one!!

I cant have long phone calls either.  I get so much feedback from the aids, especially in the ear I have the otosclerosis in.  Im just praying that I get the chance of an stapedectomy.  But then they only do one ear at a time, so I will then be in a similar place as you are now.

You do have to persevere getting used to them.  And, to be honest, Id be lost without them now.

    Good luck though.

    Regards  Wendy
