I've officially been diagnosed with HS

In the last year, I've offically been diagnosed with HS. I'm 24 and have actually had HS for about 6 years. I knew it was HS about 2 years into it. My dr said it was everything from my birth control, from shaving, staph infection, and finally said it was HS. I thought I would get some relief after being diagnosed with it. Like we're on the same page now so I can get some answers. But nope. It's been even more frustrating. I've tried antibiotic after antibiotic, even antibiotic creams, but nothing helps. I feel so frustrated. I even quit smoking to try to help it. Nothing is working. I just feel so helpless. When I have a bad flare up, which now is pretty much all the time, I have to wear at least 3 band-aids on my butt and groin area. If I don't they will go through my clothes. It makes me wanna cry and it's so embarressing. At least I can pull the female card when it happened at work and say it was my time of the month, when I had to go and buy new pants. It's constant pain and the dr's just make me more frustrated because nothing helps with it.

Hi HS is a horrible disease and most doctors know very little about it.   I too had had it for around 6 years before diagnoses.  It's only because I have a friend with it that I heard of it.

You need to see a dermatologist so get a referral.  They are the experts and know about other treatment options.  So get that referral as a matter of urgency please and get some proper treatment.   x

Thank you for that. I'm in the middle of trying to get a referreal now. I have crappy insurance and my DR's not the best either.

I've had HS for about 12 years now. I knew what it was from the beginning from hounding the internet but doctors didn't agree with me for another 6 years. I have tried so many things, I now know what helps and doesn't help. Quitting smoking definitely helps. Putting Band-aids on it only makes it fester for longer. Let it breath, it helps it almost like drying it out. Antibiotics really doesn't do anything, you don't have an infection. Really I've tried it all, nothing makes it go away completely and I've never joined any of these forums before. I do however have to share this...my sister came to visit me and she swears by coconut oil on everything. Put it on my stretch marks she says, put it up my nose if it's dry, put it on my pimple, put it on eczema and I just ok'ed her. Literally last night I get "another one" as I say and I show her and my mother bc no one else in my family has it and she says put coconut oil on it and I say ok but then my mother grabs the jar and puts it on. This morning it was bigger and she puts more on. I did not conver it up I just dressed and went about my day doing yard work. By dinner this evening it drained by itself!!! No squeezing involved!!!! Less than 24 hours and it drained!!!! So what do I do?? I put more coconut oil on it lol. This is the best thing that's ever worked for me in 12 years!! So for the first time I decided to get on a forum and post this to let other people now maybe they should try it out
