I"ve really been laid up by the high humidity on my heart the last 3 weeks or so.

I saw my Doctor, the cardiologist - turned Integrative Medicine, Dr. Bailey this morning. Being dizzy from a mere 10 minutes standing outside just doesn't cut it! I"m telling you all this for a bit of self-deprecating humor along with medical insights that might help you all too to remember. HA!
He asked me why I hadn't been taking my vitamins the last 6 weeks - well it was summer, I just got out of the habit.... yeahyeaaahhhh.. and?
Well yeah, of COURSE i was still taking the prescription diuretic and the prescription levothyroxin.
"Well Nancy don't you think you might be feeling really run down because you dropped the Vitamin D3 etc?" Holy moly... it hit me like a ton of bricks.... two things,
1. Vitamins regardless of not being prescription, are very VITAL to my health issues - two autoimmune situations and one heart condition. all three of which are aided by VITAMIN D3!! DUHHHHH....
2. the realization that we as a culture are so brainwashed by the pharmaceutical industry to think of vitamins as a nice "extra" ... when in fact they ARE the healing modality. they are a stand in for "food is your medicine" in these times of reduced minerals in agricultural soils.
Dr. Bailey has sent for about 7 different blood tests and will let me know soon, but he is pretty sure my Vitamin D3 levels have dropped back down. It will be interesting to see what the difference is for me between feeling good and felling dragged down dizzy almost depressed is.
one other things, he challenged me with the question about the LS - isn't that being affected by having stopped the vitamins? I told him no, that i felt under control.....BUT LADIES! i realized later that do have a slight twinge her an there recently... and I had been making the assumption that it was from having "cheated" with a candy bar and a bit of maple syrup in my breakfast oatmeal... OH GOSH! what IF? Bailey was proding me to question my assumptions! HA!
BLess you all. we here in North Carolina have a category 4 hurricane comeing right at us in a couple days or so. and my dear daughter is right in the bull's eye... well a few hundred miles inland but... they are expecting massive flooding and outages even in Raleigh, NC.

I always wonder if those vitamins I take really make a difference, but you are convincing me. Good luck with your health issues! And stay safe!

I was told by my gynecologist over five years ago that I had LS. I am 63 years old
I see a variety of doctors and they all do blood tests. My heart doctor tests my vitamin D. For the last two years it has been low and this is with taking a vitamin D. He has prescribed me vitamin D 50,000 unit cap once a week for eight weeks then I go to 2,000 units daily. I do not know if taking statins causes the vitamin D to be low. I do feel better on the higher dose. I take Glucosamine which is doctor recommended plus Co Q 10 since I am on statins. I do not eat sweets or chocolates or other sweets since I have stomach and. Intestinal problem. I have a very short menu. I do not have very many out breaks of LS. I did have my dermatologist do an exam but she said I was so red from taking antibiotics for a tiny biopsy that turned into a huge infection on my face that it was hard to see anything. I go back to see her in January. I do use the glob and a cream estrogen when I need to. All I can say is watch your diet and the types of foods you eat and keep taking vitamins. Works for me. I hope your daughter is safe. My daughter is in Savannah finishing up a residency. I am worried for her also.

Hey Nancy, feel better soon—PLEASE. Sounds like you have a really great doctor who asks the right questions.
Now be a good girl and take your vitamins. xo
I hope you will be out of harm's way with Florence. We in New England will get some of it but not as bad you all down south.
Speaking of being naughty in not watching my health, I can't eat any dairy whatsoever, and I don't miss it either. (I had colitis years ago) I also haven't eaten beef in 20+ years because it upsets my stomach. Well, last night I partook of a slice of beef and a noodle dish with dairy in it at my sister's house because it looked so delicious— and it was— but I paid for it dearly. I was hoping with the little bit I had I would be okay, but not. So I have to continue to be vigilant with my health issues.
I also went to my primary care doctor yesterday and she set straight on the Clobestol, so I am doing what I should have done from the onset but didn't. I have only been using it for flare-ups and only once then using other creams, etc. but I have been defeating the purpose by not maintaining a consistent application for an extended period of time to get rid of the inflammation. I may have been able to stop the fusing and scaring. But who knows. So, I'm using the Clobestol everynight for 4 weeks, then every other night for 4 weeks, then twice a week for 4 weeks. It scares me to do this, but I've been in really bad shape.
Sorry if I honed in on your thread here, but just sayin, gotta keep with the schedule to feel good. I think we both learned our lessons.
Be well my friend, and safe. xo

hahaha no you didn't hone in - that is exactly my point, Susan..... I knew better and still fell off the wagon... i've learned it now.. my vitamin protocol is VITAL to my health on an ONGOING basis... so summer slouches... grin... indeed.... it sure is ridiculous that it takes a lifetime for what I should have been doing all my life. harumph.

Jcankna - I have been told to use steroid once a day for a week's block every 4 weeks for 'maintenance'. However I started using it daily for 2 weeks recently as I noticed everything shrinking. I think we have to judge it for ourselves.

Hi jcanka, It is best to follow YOUR doctor's advice. I may not use it every night for 4 weeks. Seems excessive considering it thins the skin. It's such a catch 22 with the Clob.

Best of luck to your daughter. I remember that Charlotte wasn't supposed to affected by Hugo in 1989, but we all know how that turned out!!! I am a firm believer in vitamins and other supplements. In fact, when all the pharmaceuticals couldn't heal the breakouts on his face (and I'm not talking about acne), they were small crusty lesions that would break open & leak, he eventually went to a Naturopathic doctor and within 3 weeks had skin like a baby. Unfortunately, for some reasons these doctors are not covered by insurance, but with the extremely high deductibles ($10,000!!!!!!!) it seems as if the regular doctors are not covered either. Keep taking those vitamins

Sorry to hear you haven't been good Nancy. Not like you to let things slip, your usually on the case. I got lots of blood tests done and results back. Blood count good as is kidneys, liver, vitamin levels. No diabetes or thyroid, just slightly raised Cholestrol level. My thrush in my mouth is also Lichen PLanus which Im stuck with but the LS continues to improve for whatever reason. Hope you get back on track soon, much love to you xx
