I've suffered with anxiety for 20 years but ADs don't seem to help

ive taken nearly every antidepressants for anxiety chronic systems but over last 2years. It has got worse. Was on mirtazapine for a few years which stopped working and now on trazadone and feel very unwell bad anxiety in the morning so GPs has increased dosage and still feeling awful. I've been on trazadone for 8 weeks but still no better don't know what to do.

You don't feel any better probably because antidepressants are for depression, not anxiety. Doctors don't want to prescribe Xanax, Ativan, Valium etc. because they are very addicting and only meant for short term use, so if you need a long term solution to your anxiety the doctors are gonna go with antidepressants. Trazodone is generally prescribed for depression and insomnia. It was prescribed to me three years ago for depression brought on by dropping serotonin levels,which was brought on by menopause. I'm still taking it but I missed a night and noticed I felt better in the morning. I started with 50mg, the dosage was upped to 100mg about 2yrs ago and that's what I've been taking ever since, I refuse to take more. I go to a new doctor in August and I'm going to talk with him about tapering off the Trazodone.
