I've upped my sertraline to 100mg and feel worse!

Hi, Ive been on sertraline 50mg for the recommended 6 weeks when my doctor upped my dose to 100mg. I have had this dose before a few years ago and doc said I was fine on it, but this is horrendous. Was told side effects wouldn't be too bad but they're worse. Can't sleep as paranoia kick.sa in when i try to sleep. My heart can't decide to race of slow right down. I feel really lethargic and constantly tired, have stomach cramps and heartburn. I want to persevere but the side effects are hard to get through. Just need to know if anyone else has been through this.

Hi wilco, I have just upped my dose from 100mg to 150mg. Feeling very anxious, nausea, & very irritable. Hopefully it will pass.

Hi ross 23rd. I'm hoping that too but it's been 4 weeks on new dose and doesn't feel any better. I've also got pain and n my neck and shoulders from tension. At docs next Friday but not sure I can wait that long.

    Hi, Wilco..

I'm sorry that you are having such a negative reaction to increasing your dose of Zoloft. After 15 years on Zoloft, I recently had my dose increased. The last couple of weeks have been awful, an unadulterated hell. I had to decrease the dose to where it was originally. I was paralyzed with fatigue and weakness. I'm more discouraged now than I ever was prior. I'M NOT SUGGESTING YOU DO THE SAME. I also have gastric irritation, nausea, loss of appetite, headache etc.. I'm realizing that I'm just as anxious as I am depressed. So, for me, ether it's the Sertraline causing these symptoms, or I become seriously ill for some other reason.

      Hi jeffrey66255.

Sounds like the same thing. I've hot no motivation at all. Feel like I'm gonna pass out all the time and constantly hungry but have no appetitesad and when I do eat it's only a little and I feel full for about a minute. I've been thinking about lowering dose but it was upped as lower dose wasn't working too well. The anxiety isn't too bad but if anything I feel too relaxed if that makes sense which is worrying me more. Can't seem to win.

Ha glad I'm not only one. Get very snappy and have to walk away sometimes. I'll blame it on meds smile

Have you anxiety or depression for long. I have always been a worrier. But it really kicked of big style about 5 years ago. It's the constant tiredness and up and downs in moods that gets me. Oh to be normal whatever that means lol

I've suffered from anxiety on and off for a couple of years but this last year has been worst. Think it all comes from an op I had early on in the year it didn't work and I've been in constant pain since. I can cope with mood swings used to them it's the spaced out feeling and lack.of motivation that's getting to me. I'm usually a very happy outgoing person and now I feel like a hermit.

    Wilco,

These are very powerful drugs. The balance we are forced to strike is to decern whether we are being helped or made worse by the drug (or any increases in the dose).

That's what I'm thinking. But don't want to change meds until I see doc and only app I can get to see him is a week Fri. Just have to hold on till then. Could go see other doc but he's been with me through everything and only one who doesn't think I'm mad smile
