After a ct scan I just found out that what I thought was increasing left side intense lower back pain with f rom two months ago increased weird internal spasming like some big fat snake weaving around in my left side gut and lower back and now up left side of my back is in fact divertuculitis - alos a couple of times in the last two years a similar burning pain spasming across the bottom of my back right up the whole back and holding rigid for at least say 30 secs and then going through to my chest (right side) for further say 30 mins - very frightening and unpleasant and burning _ I asked various medics no-one could explain

anyway the pain from waist left side mainly on the left side of my back is intense and practically continuous and strong pain killers make no difference at all - buscopan, 60 mg co codamol , melverine = obviouslythe object is to get rid of the cause of the pain but in the meantime reduce the pain - any one any advice apart from change of diet - by the way I have a super healthy diet - loads of veg not much meat but have suffered from constipation for y ears and so take powder vit c most nights - breakfast rice cake with spinach sardines and grated freshginger if very nice - heated or grilled so warma nd soft - anyway I am jsut back to the gym and the pain is getting in my way at getting really fit - advice ondiet seems to be conflicting - do/dont eat whatever and do/dotn eat high/ low fibre foods

so very grateful for any afvice on painkillers nb I dont liek taking any drugs and usually enjoy excellent h ealth -lots of energy

    Angel,

Did you go over your CT scan with a GI doctor? I strongly recommend you make an appointment

to go over results with your doctor. A colonoscopy would be very useful to help determine what your problem is. You'd be surprised how much people with "good, healthy diets" get hit hard with DD.

You may want to read up on what sort of dietary problems can occur with DD. Additionally your diet will need to be flexible. Liquid diet for 48 hours can be immensely helpful. Watch your portion sizes on the solid food! Biggest step next would be GI doctor. Hands down.
