I want to Stop citalopram after 3 weeks

hey,

I been on for 3 weeks I want to stop I feel it makes me 10 times worst I want to cry and sleep all day. I feel even more on edge than I was before I went on it. Thinking of it now my anxiety wasnt that bad before the medication.. It has made me feel worst! Can anyone give experience or advice what to do??

    Hi Jay, unfortunately antidepressants do make things 10 times worse as you say, in the beginning of treatment,and you're not alone in experiencing that. It's really really hard to get through,I've done it many times,and your doctor should have told you what to expect. You say you don't think your anxiety was that bad,but you must have been bad enough to have discussed it with your doctor and for him/her to prescribe Citalopram. If your anxiety was bad before taking the medication,I would try and push through all the increased anxiety and fatigue to eventually get the benefits that come from prolonged use. If it wasn't that bad,at 3 weeks it's not too late to come off them and try and manage low anxiety using supplements,CBT or therapy, exercise and diet etc. Good luck.
