I was Diagnosed with chiari malformation in September

Hello, I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation this last September after having suffered from symptoms for about a year and a half. My herniation of the cerebellar tonsil is 2 cm. In the four months since September I have begun having more symptoms and more frequently. About a week ago I met with my Neurosurgeon again who thinks at this point it is best to go ahead with the surgery. This will be my first every surgery and I am pretty nervous and don't know what to expect. I've talked to friends and family but none of them have been through this and though they mean well, it would be nice to hear experiences from people who have also been through this. Any information anyone may have to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I have had surgery for Chiari Malformation twice.  I had two different neurosurgeons to do both surgeries.  My advise would be to find a specialist in Chiari Malformation.

Your are so right they do mean well, I found by reading info online it helped but each person is different as we all heal differently due to age fitness etc, mine was thrown on me diagnosed in the feb and operated a year later, all went well and I was home 3 days later, lots of meds and sleep.

    Good luck
