I was diagnosed with piles 2 months ago and given cream. I have no pain but still bleed?

I have no discomfort from the piles just thus small amount of blood every day. I'm worrying myself sick it's bowel cancer and am scared to go back to doctor. I have a terrible fear of having to have anastetic if I needed an operation. I just wondered if what I have is normal symptoms of piles? I would be grateful for any feedback.

Hello Eileen , someimes piles will bleed all the time , I have had piles like that , especially after the toilet . It seems that bright red blood is not such a worry , but darker blood is . Still , it has to be worth getting checked out . Dont worry about anaesthetics , I've been in theatre so many times over the last year or so , it really is a dawdle . Its all in the mind . Whats more importnat is to at least have it checked to make sure the bleeding is trivial .

Thank you for replying - yes it's bright red blood so I guess it's just hemorrhoids - your comment has put my mind at rest. I've been so worried. I am going to see my doctor again in a few weeks after my holiday so maybe they will just do the banding. Thank you again for replying and I hope after your operations your health has improved.

Hey , this is totally normal. I've had piled for over 10 years now , mine are so bad they prolapse each time I go to the toilet with a lot of blood , so much in fact it is like a vain opening and it squirts out the hemeroids , ur symptoms are early stage piles . If they are internal then keep using the cream or try the suppositories. But my advice is go get them banded b4 u end up like me and away to get surgery to remove them which is gonna be painful and have a long recovery. I wish I could go back to the stage your at now and had this advice. You don't have bowel cancer and u shouldn't worry. Plz go get them banded and you will thank me once it's sorted. Good luck

Hi thanks for your comments - it's reassuring to hear that what I have is fairly normal for hemorrhoids. It's not something I feel I can discuss with friends! My dad was troubled with this condition for many years and ended up with surgery that took a long time to recover from. I will go back to doctor and see if he will refer me for banding which I hope doesn't need an anasthetic. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a good recovery.

    Hi Eileen

Its a common thing with piles when they bleed - If the Doctor has already diagnosed this as piles it will be fine - The blood is usually a sign of the wrong diet and you probably need to eat a more high fibre diet so you dont strain or get constipated - You need to have soft but "full" stools (Not Wet/Loose) If the piles are sticking out of your bum then after your BM

Wash them with a baby wipe , soap and warm water  (Try not to wipe your bum)

Lubricate up your bum hole with with a little cream or soap on your finger

and gently push them back into your bum - They will go in - Follow in with your finger as far as you can go then take out slowly and then put in a suppository

You can put some cream on them before you push them in as well for a short time

That will soon have them under control and you will not need an operation on them in any case if there is no pain

If they dont stick out of your bum then use suppositories and not cream anyway!

If they do not go back inside then you have external piles which are as rare as rocking horse s*it

If you feel them pop out again during the day - Just push them back in again

Repeat every time you have a poo and you should be fine (No pain No blood)

If you are having "strange" bowel movements such as diarrea for a number of weeks with the blood or the blood is not "fresh" then that would be the time to see your Doctor again

Try not to worry if you do need to see your Doctor again - Anything serious would have been picked up on your last visit so it will actually be more assuring if you did see them again and give you peace of mind

Try the above first - It worked for me for over 20 years and Mine used to bleed constantly when they were stuck out of my bum (They are Internal piles and they should be inside your bum- Why Doctors and chemists don't seem to understand this is beyond me!)

Hi Dave - thanks for replying. I think mine must be internal as I don't feel any lumps. I think you're right too that diet is important I've not been eating very well these last few months so I need to start getting more fibre. I will try the suppositories and see if this helps as well. Thanks again for your help.

      Hi Eileen

No probs - What you have is what they call Stage 1 piles and you can actually look at the bleeding as a Godsend so now just start to eat a healthy high fibre diet (Both types of fibre Wholegrains and Fresh fruit and veg) ( Wheat Bran is brilliant for softening stools ) But drinking lots of water is also essential if taking in more fibre otherwise it works in reverse and actually gives you constipation!

Once you achieve easy regular BM's then your piles should never be a problem - But Straining when going to the loo and especially constipation will just push the piles further and further down until they will eventually pop out of your bum and thats when the trouble starts - Stages 2 - 3 - 4

So healthy diet now and you will probably never have any further problems or have to use suppositories or creams either

      Best of luck

Thanks Dave. I've had a much better explanation from you than from my doctor who was rather brusque and just said it's hemorrhoids and use this cream.

He didn't inspire me to ask any questions! !

    Hi Eileen,

I would be very supprised if you needed an op at this stage of the game it took me 30 years.

Get a stool sample done, but bleeding is pretty common and use the cream and supopoteries it can be frightening at first.

I m vegitarian and drink lots of water, do pelvic floor excersises and take laxsido regually.

Hope this helps, I am feeling a lot better.

Thank Sheila it's reassuring to know that it's reasonably normal this bleeding. It's just that as I get no pain and the cream didn't work my mind slipped the rational and I decided it must be bowel cancer.

I am going to increase fibre and water intake to help things. I hope you continue to keep well.
