I was on lofepramine for about 6 mths. I really regret taking it as the side effects have stayed with me although I have been off the drug for 6 yrs.

Really hot at night, bad sweats. The sweating reduced loads once off it,but is never the same, even in winter I need a fan directed on my feet in order to sleep.

Constipation. I take magnesium now to alleviate this, the only thing that works.

Beating heart at night. The psych insisted this was not a side effect at all but simply my body relaxing more so I noticed it. Not true. I have had insomnia for many years (prior to taking lofepramine) and it never helped it, in fact I still wake now with the beating heart. Not palpitations. Just hard.

Migraines - they made them worse when on it. That combined with the pill, I stopped them both at the same time to an instantaneous enormous difference for the better.

I begged to come off it after weeks, but psych insisted I took them for 6mths until she agreed I did not have depression or ptsd after all.....

It has made me really hesitant to try other drugs at different times as I don't want to be left with a legacy of side effects that apparently don't exist in the psych's eyes.

migraine comment rings a bell.i'd never had a migraine until i was prescribed lofepramine.within a week i was experiencing full on attacks with auras.20 years later and they still happen.gp did not think they were related to the drug but i still think it triggered it.

For all of you on lofepramine, please give it a chance. I was on it for 6 months and now been of it for 6 months, i feel fantastic and would not hesitate to go back on it if ever felt depressed again. It does take time and side effects do subside. :D

    re migraines.

I suffered from migraines for years really badly with sickness, and almost paralasys down one side. They stopped when I went on the depo injection and one day when I was in the clinic waiting for my injection reading a mag I read an article saying that the depo injection can help with migraines. It worked for me so I thought I would share that with you. I have been on lofepramine 210mg a day for a couple of years and the sweats are bad esp at night and when I wake in the morning and as for sleepless nights been on sleeping tablets for as long as lofepramine, but apart from dry mouth the fact I feel better makes it worth it.
