I was on setraline for 8 months. Then I tapered off. Will it affect me permanently?

I was prescribed to take setraline (50mg)for my panic attacks and because I couldn't sleep at all. I took it for a good 8 months morning and night so it was 100mg per day. I now tapered off it and I followed my doctors recommendation regarding the tapering off. I had suffered some withdrawals like a little bit of weight gain, excessive sweating, blurred vision but it seems to be fine now. The only fear I have still now is that I feel whether these medicines will have a permanent effect on me. Will my brain return to normal?

Your withdrawal side effects were minimal. You are lucky. I do not think they would have a permanent effect once you have stopped. Look it up on a doctors' site and perhaps query it.

Thank u nancyew! I read so many horrible stories about withdrawals that it scared me to post a query over here:-/ Thanks for the helpful suggestion! Cheers

Hello ana. How long were u on that med for? I had loads of these meds and then I started weaning each of them off. It was a painful journey but I feel that now I'm off it. But sometimes the worry does come again but it's not about my anxiety or anything but it's the question of whether these meds have any permanent effect or not!
