I was traumatically hit in the head with a steel object 16 months ago/concussion; Do I have TBI?

As I said before, I was hit a year and a half ago and I still have the worse of the symptoms; dizziness, whooziness, blurry vision, spasms striking me in the head, ear, temple, and eye and bright light and loud noise or weird nose kills me plus you get ringing in your ear, etc....  The object that hit me was long, steel and very hard.  I didn't see this object coming and slammed into my head causing me to black out, collapse, and now I''m in constant pain everyday, all day, along with the symptoms above. I didn't know what just happened to me but, my head felt busted and it felt like it was bleeding.  You have nightmares of getting hit in the head again; and the thought of the place it happened at makes you feel as if youre going through the horrible episode again.  It's hard to not become fustrated and angry about the situation because youre in shock from this traumatizing accident/injury cause you don't know it's going to happen; you are in total shock and it disables you mentally and physically.  You actually feel like you may collapse again now at any given moment. When you cant think right, you cant do anything right. My aim is to focus on getting my head pain free and no dizziness, nausea or confusion.  Who can tell me if this is TBI because it won't go away.  Who can tell me if this is going to stop or will I battle this horror for the rest of my life?I want to live a full life with my kids and family.  This has changed my life.  Im now trying to cope, and focus on a more quiet, peaceful and joyful life.  I don't want to worry about dying from this blow to my head.  It's excrutiating pain and you have to see a trauma specialist or neurologist to prescribe medicines to help the pain because you can't cope with this pain without something.  Who knows about this?

Yes Michelle you have a TBI. Did you see a doctor after this happened? I fell in March. I hit my head on the outside of my tub and lost consciousness. I still get headaches, migraines, dizzy spells, tinnitus or noises in my ear and flashes of bright lights. Some people take longer to heal than others. I also get really tired and have trouble with my short term memory. There is also something called Post-Concussion Syndrome. You might want to check that out. Did they scan your head after you got hit? Sometimes you can get a bleed in your brain and that can cause problems too. Stay in touch with your Doc and maybe he can refer you to a Neurologist.

     I wish you well,

Hi Lorian, this is the first time I ever noticed this web site and Im happy to have bumped into it. Im sorry about your fall on the tub and I hope you get better too. Yes, I do think sometimes it takes more time to heal than others but, I sure hope it goes away because you feel like a zombie at times on a merry go round or rollercoaster. That is sometimes your like duh, I dont remember or I forgot or what you say, cause you didnt hear what someone said then they may say it too loud.  I looked up that post-concussion syndrome and I dont know about that but, I do believe its Traumatic Brain Injury because it doesnt seem to want to go away but, I am seeing a trauma/neurology specialist and I have gotten a diagnosis of Central Pain Syndrome.  I too cannot stand bright lights and noise and I pray for both of us.  It has been a long time and becomes depressing because youre really fighting to cope with this and keep living. A blow to the head is really a serious matter and I will be following up with my doctor and you do the same.  I cant remember a thing either but, I will remember this web site because I wrote it down in a notebook that I write in and always look at so I will be able to talk with you again and see how youre getting along.  Maybe we can have each other to talk to and coach each other to getting better.  Its hard talking to anyone thats never hit their head because explaining your symptoms to people that never had trauma like this will think your crazy or playing games with them.  If they only knew how very serious you are.  I will be on my tablet through out the day everyday and maybe we can get better together.

When I see the dodctor again, I am going to ask about TBI because it has gone beyond just a concussion because its been a long time now.  Thanks for talking to me.  I will ask about the post-concussion syndrome too as well.  I hope you have a neurologist too because you must of had a really hard hit in the tub to have the symptoms I have and a tub is hard as steel which is what I  was hit with (a thick steel object). If I dont get to speak with you again I do wish you well in your recovery.  Your not the same after a hit in the head but, we are blessed to be alive and I surely thank god Im still here.

I also lost consciousness for a little while and I collapsed a couple times and I hope that is over.  You must also must have had a concussion so we both have to be careful.  I thought I could shake it off by staying mobile but, you cant.  I believe you need to rest a lot and move a little and sleep but, I just want to make sure I can wake up.  I just recently got comfortable enough to go to sleep; because, I was scared I may not wake up after the terrible impact to my head. Im better with it now but still learry.
