Hi!

So I've been terribly ill for a few days now. I've experienced painful headaches, body aches, fevers, light-headedness, extreme fatigue, and though I am a bit better now, I've started experiencing sneezing and coughing. I tested negative for covid on December 29th, but I was tested again on December 31st and I am awaiting my results. This morning, however, I woke up with these blisters/bumps on my face (underneath my bottom lip) that I've never seen before. My mom said they look like fever blisters (aka Cold Sores cause by herpes simplex 1) but I've never kissed anyone and never really share any items with people. I don't know how I could've gotten this but I looked at the symptoms of HSV1 and I do have some of them though they are also symptoms of covid-19. What does this look like to you guys? Any insight will be helpful as it's currently the weekend and I won't get to see a doctor until next week. Thanks for all your help!

Hi, Mikey! This looks a lot like herpes indeed. It is quite common for herpes to break out on the skin at times of low immunity or high stress (this is always my case), so the fact that you have been sick only reinforces the "diagnosis".

About the way of getting infected, it is kind of mysterious because I started to manifest herpes when I was a child, without ever having seen anyone with herpes in my life.

This is a virus that can lie dormant in the body for years and only manifest itself a few times during your life.

Go see a doctor so that he/she confirms the diagnosis and prescribes you the necessary antivirals for the treatment.
