I wore my walking boot wrong for the first 2 days; should I be worried?

Hi all,

About a month ago, I fractured my lateral malleous and was non-weight bearing with a cast. My doctor recently (2 days ago) removed the cast and put me in an aircast walking boot. After I got home, I took the boot off and put it back on according to memory. Unfortunately, my memory was wrong, and I had the boot on incorrectly until today. I put the shin plate's edges on the inside of the boot frame instead of the outside. As a result, I had also not properly adjusted the inflatable air pouches. I don't feel a significant difference in walking now that I have fixed the boot, so should I be concerned? My doctor told me I could go back to normal shoes in 2 weeks, but will wearing the boot wrong impact this time? I'm not an extremely active person, but I was trying to walk around a fair amount to get used to the boot.

Thanks!

I don't think so. Best indicator of a problem is increased pain, which you do not have. I am pushing 2 years on my ankle fracture, just a bit of time and patience is all you need. As I recall on the air, there is no right or wrong way, the nurse said it was for my comfort when wearing the boot. Take care.

I think you will be fine The boot is good protection for your ankle. Its can be a little

    complicated to put on sometimes
