I am due to have surgery for my Hidradenitis Suppurativa in my groin on both sides, my consultant has not given me much information about the actual operation, he just keeps saying he will not cure me, i do believe he will be removing all the damaged tissue and possibly removing sweat glands or at least part of it, i am just wondering if anyone has had this procedure done and what exactly happened and what happened after? how long did it take to for you to recover?

I have been researching information on hydrodenitus supprativa for my husband who had a chronic condition with huge boils under his armpit and buttocks for almost 20 years...it more recently was in his armpits though and he would have huge boils twice a month he would have to get drained. I had him try everything I found online from diet, soap changes etc....nothing worked. It got so bad that a doctor was going to skin graph his armpits. I found online something about humira possibly working on HS and convinced the doctor to let him try it. He was on the drug for 6 months and then stopped the humira. He has not had 1 boil since then. ...I hate to say hes cured but it's been really promising.....thought I would pass this along since I may be able to help others with this skin condition.

I'm from Saskatchewan Canada so I'm not sure if you are from the state's if I can be of any help. But for me I had tried all the medications out there available and nothing had helped. It was my gp who sent me to a general surgeon. I just explained how it was and showed him that I could squeeze out infection with just a push on the skin. The surgeon agreed to do surgery.

i just had this surgery two weeks ago. it was in my buttox area on both sides i have been suffering from HS for several years. It took a few trips to the dermatologist and two to a general surgeon to get it scheduled. The left side is good , I get my 10 or so stitches out next week . The stitches on the right side ripped open so had them all taken out which was awful. i have to keep packing in all the time now. I have a 3.5 by 2 inch open wound currently. . The pain has subsided, however it feels like it is taking forever to heal. I have been working from home for the last two weeks as i cant sit in the car to drive or sit at a desk for an entire work day. I hope i can say i made the right decision once I am fully healed. my surgeon did sag it will never return to those spots which rubbed together making it so painful most of the time . Best of luck to everyone dealing with this issue.

i had the surgery also but on my right armpit & right groin on 22nd November 2018 the procedure was fine. but the healing stage for me is the worst to this day.. had my stitches out on my groin but as they was getting them out it was breaking down and reopening so they left some stitches in. few days later my armpit dressing was bleeding through the dressing onto my clothing so i went to my GP which then told me i had an infection. so 7 days on anti biotics, then found out while i had the infection, the infection was so bad it disolved/eaten my stitches up which left me with an open wound.. 2 months later still having daily dressing changes but looks better than ever! after all this trouble im pain free on my left side! roll on till i have my 2 other planned surgerys
