for some reason I can't respond to you on the other post.

Take the librium (I would) when you get home...you can't chance giving into a drink right now and the first 3 days are the worst.

I hope you don't drink!  I GET it....if you do...but I hope you don't because Day 4 is starting the up swing...

This is technically my day four. I have 3 pills left but I'm trying to take them right before I go to bed so that they'll hopefully last me through the next day. They are 25 milligrams each which is way more than the 10 milligrams are normally prescribed

      How was work?!

So happy for you that you made it there...so happy that you are not drinking now...I'm assuming your not!

No I am not. Still trying to keep busy till my wife gets home in an hour or so. My back is killing me and I ache all over but I've eaten a ton of food all day long and tried to stay hydrated. My wife wants me to move about 20 boxes tonight in about 2 hours before I have to go to bed. I don't know how to do it but I have to do it

Doesn't sound like your wife understands withdrawal syndrome sad..can you move 10?

Hopefully, you sleep well and feel better tommorow.

What does can you move 10 mean? 10 steps?

10 boxes instead of 20!  Joking...I would tell her tommorow...maybe.

I already moved all 20. I had to. The cable guy is coming tomorrow and I was supposed to take care of this last weekend but I got too drunk. Now she's at her parents new house p*ssed off that I wouldn't go with her when she doesn't realize that I have to be up at 4 o'clock in the morning to be to work and that means going to bed in an hour and a half.

No I ended up moving all 20. The moderator is checking my last message right now but I'm not sure why

      How goes the battle, I7?

I'm making it so far but since I work in a warehouse and its inventory it is killing my body.

Hang in there, mate! Hopefully you're feeling a bit better than you did yesterday?

i don't know how the UK is with Gabapentin...but I take it for physical reasons...and my body feels better.

it is also helping me right now with "withdrawal" from antidepressents and proven to help with withdrawal from alcohol.

Yes. Thanks for the support. I work in the lumber department at a home improvement store and it is destroying my back and body. Still no drinking though
    • Posted

Yes I live in the US and I was prescribed Gabapentin a year ago for withdrawals because they were afraid of seizures but I only have a few pills left and I can't seem to find them

No drinking is all that matters...I'm sure your back and body will get stronger as you do without drinking...

And since you do have legite back problems...maybe you can get some more Gabapentin from your Dr.

      Excellent!

How many times have you quit before?

Hopefully, without the alch fogging your brain, you may see some other work opportunities that you want to go for, like a move into lumber sales or to another company that has less physically stressful jobs available. Booze seems to numb the mind so much that it gave me tunnel vision wrt my career. I didn't like my job that much, but I didn't see anywhere else I could go.

Other things you might want to research (not saying that herbs are safer than pharmaceuticals though):

      Pain and inflammation:

      Curcumin

      Boswellia

      MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) crystals

      Nerves, anxiety, insomnia:

      Passion Flower

      Lemon Balm

      Valerian

      Magnesium (even epsom salts baths)

      GABA powder/caps

      L-Theanine

Look 'em over, do some research. I can't recommend grabbing some and tossing it down your throat, check it out with a naturopath and see what kind of feedback you get.

Pilates - helps you balance your muscles so you aren't repeatedly straining one group, especially when doing physically awkward stuff.

I never thought of it that way. I definitely don't want to stay at my job so even though my wife's family know what happened they want to help.

Yeah, once your brain starts to get used to life without booze, you'll start to think differently. Alcohol works like an anesthesia in a way, so with that gone you'll have an easier time navigating life.

The reason I asked about how many times you've quit before is that due to the nature of Alcohol Use Disorder, many that start with abstinence (most, actually) get hounded by craving and slip back into drinking. That craving comes from an unconscious part of the brain and can be addressed by medication if strict abstinence and meetings (AA, SmartRecovery, etc) don't work. So it would be good to start to formulate a "Plan B" that you can put into action without delay if the craving starts to drive you nuts.

That's great that you have support from the family!!! At least that's one "monster under the bed" that you don't have to worry about.

Sounds like a good "Plan B" to me, though if you're happy being abstinent, that's all you need. Give it your best and know that one way or the other, you'll have it under your thumb!

A week!  Thank GOD....and today is Friday.  Are you okay with that?  Usually people (including me) who work hard thru the week WAIT for Friday to drink.  Is your mind telling you that its ok to drink today cause it is Friday?  I hope not.

Short story: Back when I was drinking heavily and working....on Fridays I would hear everyone talking about how good their weekend was going to be.  Many times tears would roll down my cheek cause I knew as soon as I left work on a Friday....it was drink, drink, drink...and be fearful about Monday and wondering if I would be showing up for work.

I was consumed....I hope your desire is passing and you enjoy a nice relaxing...stress free weekend!
