IBS

Hi everyone.

I got diagnosed with IBS last year and I’m wondering if anybody has any tips on how to help ease it. I’m currently having a bad flare up and I think the trigger was coconut milk! I’m having waves of pain across my abdomen...feels like it’s squeezing but makes me bend over in pain when it happens. It comes and goes so pretty much every 6 mins or so ( bit like a contraction) lol. I’ve had it pretty much since I wasn’t young but it got worse after having my son so decided I had to have it seen to.

Try the Low Fodmap Diet or a food diary, try distraction techniques like a hobby or light exercise like walking or swimming.  Try an antispasmodic like Buscopan which can be bought over the counter.  Nurofen also helps.  Your doctor can prescribe you an antispasmodic if these don’t work.  You may have to try several.

I agree I had same problem, took flora 50 billion probiotic critical care and it was gone in 2 weeks.  Had it for over year and a half.  Took  1 box of cholestraymine,  prior to probiotic.  Need a prescription for that but it did change while I was on it.  Then stopped and took the probiotic... I can eat anything now and no problem.. give it a try.  The cholestraymine is for bile acid..the doctor said he didn’t think it would help but try it won’t hurt you....i did, then the flora brand probiotic, might help you..
