IBS AND BLADDER SYMPTOMS

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello Anyone have bladder symptoms as part of their IBS and what symptoms do you get?

I sometimes feel like I need to go to the loo a lot sometime a little sometimes a lot. No pain in going.

I also get what I can only describe as a sort of vaginal ache which seems to come on in the evening

but is gone the next day. This seems to correspond with IBS flare up. I also suffer from anxiety

and various other conditions, and am on a lot of medication. I am 66 years of age.

Thanks.

    Hiya

you have described exactly the same symptoms that i have. I drink a lot of water and pee frequently, but at night i feel like i have to go a lot more. There us a dull ache in my vagina and its like my bladder is full. Might try the aloe vera gel as that is a new one yo me! I take colpermin and fybogel daily, this does help my ibs a bit.

glad its not just me who has this pain down below!

    Hello libralady,

I am 65 years old so we are in the same boat. When you are given a medication, do you check the side effects? If I were you, unless you absolutely NEED to take medication, I would get off all of it. Don't take statins for cholesterol for sure. Just eat more fibre and fruits and vegetables (6 - 10 servings per day) and your numbers WILL improve. Don't take BP medication unless you cannot get your numbers down with a low salt diet and exercise...even a long walk every day. You say you need to go to the loo sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. I would say that is because sometimes you drink a little and sometimes you drink a lot, right? What goes in....has to come out! But if you mean 'go to the loo' as #2...then eat more fruits and vegetables, go for brisk walks...even in the rain and drink plenty of water and take 3 or 4 magnesium tablets before bed to keep things as regular as clockwork...never with any cramping or pain. That's how I have kept my IBS under control for years.

Instead of lifestyle changes, many people would rather eat poorly, stay up late on their computers and sleep poorly as a result, eat few veggies and fruits and never get out in the light of day for a walk. The solution can be simple and does not require drugging oneself.

A new habit  takes 30 days to form. After that it is smooth sailing. Why not start your day off with a 3 fruit/veggie smoothie?

    Good luck Libralady!

    Hi there,

Good advice from all, especially Robin. I drink loads of water yet have to strain to pass urine (and it smells awful). GP says I don't suffer water retention (results of one scan), although I'm on meds for heart (stopped the statins because of side effects). Used to have duretic pills but GP stopped them. Unfortunately, after 2 strokes and 2 heart attacks and suffering from COPD badly, along with IBS, my walking ability is seriously impeded and I can't do a lot of exercise, although I do as much as possible, but am suffering overweight problems around stomach and hips and have doubled my weight in the last few years (some is bloating) since becoming so inactive and yet eat quite sparilngly and sensible. I am at a loss over this straining to relieve bladder as it cannot be good (told not to strain on toilet because of heart) yet no answers from my GP..I think he's at a loss, as 2 scans didn't show anything. Any advice appreciated. I am nearly 71 and on a load of meds for COPD/heart/Omeprazole and Gaviscon for IBS. Will have another try with the Aloe Vera.   Regards, Val.
